The 42 is an excellent gun, I only wish Glock would update it to full gen 5 stats including magazines, to this day I still carry one with Underwood xtreme defender

Sig p365/380 is the best shooter i have ever owned , put the FCU in a p365 xl frame module , and built a p365x/380 with 12rd flush mags ! What a blast to shoot !

I own Glocks 42 and 43, as well as several in the P365 series, just not the .380 version. I have shot one though. To put things in perspective, the .02" difference in the overall footprint is 1/3 the thickness of a penny. That's not much. I think a lot of this will be subjective here. My switch from the 43 to the P365 was more about how the grip felt than capacity. I don't use weapon-mounted lights or lasers, so no concern with either. Glock gets a lot of criticism for their sights, but they are actually excellent sights, just not as durable as a steel sight might be. I've never damaged the polymer sights on any of my Glocks that are still equipped with them. Two of my P365s are equipped with optics, so I like the idea that it is an option on the .380 Sig. However, I don't carry with an optic, so there's that. Both of these are excellent shooters with very mild recoil. I've seen many reviews from outspoken anti-.380 enthusiasts, where they raved about the soft recoil of the P365-.380 and how quickly follow-up shots came. They may not have been fans of the .380, but they were certainly fans of the firearm. I'm sure their results with a 42 would be similar. There's really no bad choice either way.

I had the P365 .380, briefly. It had trouble returning to battery so I sent it back to Sig. The recoil was out of spec and they replaced it. OK, cool. But after that it would fail to feed hollow points reliably, to include of all things Sig V Crown. And my personal go to, Underwood. The problem occurred once every 2 or 3 mags, which to me was an unacceptable failure rate. Sold it. Never had an issue with the G42.

carried the 42 for yrs...then I bought a czp10f. Went to shoot the ol 42 and thought the gun was damaged, the trigger was so bad! Then I found the 365 in 380. Sold the 42 and love the sig. It is about 2 ox heavier, but ergos sights capacity, and trigger made the choice kinda easy. So now I have the sig for a micro carry, g19 for standard carry, and cz to drool over it excellency.

Very good review. I've owned and carried my G42 for over 3 yrs. Easy to carry, easy to shoot well, easy to replace parts if needed, etc I like the P365 but I will be keeping the G42. BTW I'm a new subscriber. Keep those reviews coming.

I own and love both of them. I was running Sig’s so I picked up the 380 just because I am like that. I run one brand and try my best to stay uniform across the board……sights……holsters……ammo…….triggers…..gun brands. So I run Glocks and had the G42 before I started EDCing P365 line up. Started upgrading and accessorizing my Glocks so I went back to them. Either one, you cannot go wrong.

I think. 380 ACP in a micro compact makes the most sense. I have a Shield Plus and gotta say it is quite hard for me to shoot well beyond 10 yards using iron sights. The reduced recoil of .380 ACP would be appreciated.

I picked up the Sig p365 in .380 as i have severe arthritis in my shootin hand and other issues in with elbow and shoulder at age 63 it has taken me several rounds to start hitting my target as i’m also a novice but I absolutely love this gun, the only issue i’ve had is it’s a bit tougher to find the ammo and quite pricey vs 9mm i also got the Lima sig laser for it and had a bit of trouble finding holsters but there are a couple i finally found for iwb and owb Cytac and Tulster if anybody’s looking. The sig 380 is butter...... awesome to shoot. I just wish 380 ammo was cheaper

I have never had an issue with any Glock. That being said, I have had a few sigs that had to go back for warranty service.

Wish Glock would make a "42X" or something. About this size with more capacity like the 43x, but in .380

I first picked up a S&W 380EZ but was disappointed with its 8-rd capacity. I then picked up a Sig P365-380 and it fits my hand much better and the 12-round mags were just right. Even the P365 9mm 15-round mags work.

I'll be sticking with the Glock. I own a 17 and a 48 so it carries right over. Its a bit cheaper. I really don't care about having a high cap .380. It gives me a fast, accurate 6 rounds of .380 ACP JHP as a back up plan or if I need something to toss into my sleep shorts to walk to the mailbox. The Glock also fits my hands much better than the sig. I'm also not interested in bolting on a light, laser, night vision etc to a pocket pistol. This type of pistol is made for contact to maybe 5 yards.

I'm really surprised S&W has not updated the Bodyguard .380 or Taurus with a GX4 variant as well. The Sig P365 seems expensive for .380, but you have to consider the tritium sites are included.

I have a P365-380 and it's surprisingly good. I like it much more than the Ruger LCP Max I had. It's actually enjoyable to shoot and it's really nice with their integrated Lima laser. I can be quite accurate with it and I can comfortably pocket carry it. I think the Ruger LCP and LCP Max are too light and thus have too much recoil, and micro 9mm's are too heavy for pocket carry and also have too much recoil - the P365-380 is the perfect sweet spot for concealed carry in my opinion. The Glock 42 seems good too but I do feel it's outdated with the lower capacity and such compared to the SIG.

I own Both. Love my Glock 42 380acp. Now that I bought a 365 380acp. It definitely shoots different..

I used to carry a full-size government model for years, but with the onset of arthritis and advanced age, I decided to go with a smaller pistol. My wife was getting her concealed carry permit, so I went thru the range training with her. The pfficer that was running the range that day offered to let us shoot his g42. Both of us were really impressed with the performance , so we both bought one. I added mag extensions to all the mags and that's the only thing I carry now. I do wish they had a slightly larger mag capacity but anything much bigger capacity would be too bulky I'm afraid.

I bought both. Love the feel of the Glock but the Sig fits nicely in my coat!

Glock is my favorite pistol brand, but I prefer the LCP MAX because it’s high capacity and smaller than the P365 or Glock as you know. I still don’t quite trust the P365.

Thank you for this review. Picked up my first 380 this past week. Strangely, I did not use capacity as one of my determining factors but focused more on familiarity and reliability, therefore, I went with the G42 with Night Sights. Hopefully Shield will come out with a mag for the 42 some day. Pics to come after I get it out of FFL jail.

I picked up a G42 several months after they fixed them and the G43 had finally come out driving the prices on the G42 down a bit. I put aftermarket Night Fission HD Tritium sights on it and Vickers Tactical +2 kits on both magazines giving me 8 rounds in each magazine, just enough for a full 3 finger grip and a Crimson Trace green touchpad laser sight. I feel this is sufficient and capable for a pocket gun. I also like the inertial trigger safety on a pocket gun making it safer drawing it. I don't plan on switching my upgraded G42 pocket gun out. but even so glock should get off their duffs and make this a 10/12 round magazine gun and offer a version with quality night sights that include Tritium lamps in them.

I bought into the hype of needing more rounds and picked up the Sig. The 42 I own fires everything you put into it. The 365 not so much. Pick up a few different brands of ammo to test out if you pick one up. Mine is very sensitive to what ammo it will shoot. I found heavier grains work the best in the one I own.

EDC? G42 anytime anyday, almost No Recoil. Put Pierce +1 and Underwood Ammo you good to go. Bang at whenever you need to Bang.

Personally ... i think microcompact in 380acp is a perfect set up. Had an issue with the recoil spring assembly on my P365-380 otherwise it's perfect.

I like and own Glocks but in this case IMO the SIg P365 is the better choice due to capacity and the avaibility of mounting a red dot. I have a P365 9mm so I have experience with both systems and shoot them both well. If I were to buy a 380 of this size I'd buy the Sig

I liked your commentary on this topic. For me, g42 wins though. My specific role for the 42 is pocket or ankle carry in low risk environments. 2 ounces and the slight dimensional differences matter a lot for those two carry methods imo. G42 is the Goldilocks imo because it is literally the smallest, controllable gun that fires and operates like a bigger gun does. I still like the 365 platform though and my primary is the p365xl with 14 rd mags. That one is the Goldilocks of the 9mm too cause it’s the smallest 9mm that operates and handles like a fullsize. No dissying if you like the 365-380 though. All are solid options.

Even if Glock would make the 42 grip a bit thicker, they would only get 1-2 aditional rounds in it as long as they stay with their polymer shrouded mags. This make the walls of the magazines thicker and reduces capacity.

Hello Hammer Striker, Thanks for another good video! For me this is a very difficult decision. I have a Glock 19 which I like quite well, but due to nerve damage and arthritis I need to lighten my load a bit. I have X- large hands with X-long fingers, so the main factor for me will be which one feels best in my hand. I'm undecided at this point, but Im leaning towards the Sig because of it's capacity. But, then again....Lol!

I carry the 42 and p238 and lcp and bersa thunder combat. Now best shooting for me goes bersa ,42,238,lcp.... now easy to hide carry . Lcp, p238, 42, bersa.. all of them i like! But the 238 was 650 new , 42 was 400 , bersa 225 , lcp 200 .. 42 i would say is best bang for your buck out of what i have . The 365 is my next

Excellent video as always. Onto the guns… Glass optics on a mouse gun. I just roll my eyes on that one. Front Slide serrations not really needed. Round count… I don’t care if I have to reload. The Glock just feels lighter and smaller in my pants pocket. It’s perfect. I just carry a spare magazine or two in the other pocket. Glock’s reliability is the “gold standard” when compared to Sig and I still don’t trust today’s Sigs, made in the USA. I miss the old “made in west Germany GmbH” Sig Sauer of yesteryear. That was a completely different company than what we have today. Precision quality morphed in a dumpster fire with today’s Sig.

For some people, a manual safety is very important. Sig offers a safety version and Glock doesn't.

I like the trigger on the Sig because it does not break as far back as the Glock. I have large hands.

Always wanted a 42 and a 26 and dig the .380 type guns.

I've had both of them, and I really seems like the extra capacity of the Sig would make it the clear winner. But generally speaking, I've seen better overall reliability with the Glock, and the price is way better too. I currently have the Glock.

I just bought a Sig P322 to practice my skill. Now I want to buy a small pistol to carry /self defense. Sig P365-380 is my 1st choice but also considering Glock 42.

GLOCK 42 would be my pick but I carry a Glock 43x or Hellcat Pro both 9mm.

Got a question? Why do people even use the Sights at all on these small 380's? I don't, never have. Two eyed shooting ! At 7 yards. I hit middle of my target on both my 380acp's glock 42 and the Sig 365 380acp. Huh..

I think the sig is overall a better shooting gun. With its large capacity its worth the extra money. Also the 9mm mags have been proven to work with a 380 round. I've never liked glock triggers.

Are you kidding? The Glock sights have never been described as good, and its trigger is almost as bad. The best thing that can be said about the Glock, any Glock, is that it is reliable and functions very well. Your end of video conclusion was right on the money.

I'm baffled by the comments cause my glock 42 has the gen 3 mags and it is completely unreliable!!! A complete jamboree! I just don't believe the 42 is nothing but a waste of money! Please buyers look up Glock 42 problems on KZfaq so you can see for yourselves that the Glock 42 is terrible, many videos proving this over and over again!

Optics on 3inch barrel pistols or micro pistols are totally useless,full size pistols of compacts yes.

The Sig isn't actually 380 based pistoI. It's a modified 9mm. Its a joke of a gun. Sig had to insert plastic back in the magazine because they were too lazy to make a real 380.

If you enjoy malfunctions, $60 magazines, getting shot when you drop a gun then get the Sig.
