This is acrylic on cardboard.
I mix my paints with Floetrol (amzn.to/2BG5kka) and water and put silicone in some of the paint colours.
Most of my paints I use are Reeves fine artist acrylics like these on Amazon amzn.to/2GwJBRC .
You can find the Pendant trays and glass cabochons on Amazon at amzn.to/2CW9us0

Thanks Michelle for sharing this. I also have been making cards with old cereal etc cardboard and gluing them onto cards. However, yours are so much more professionally done! I love the idea of cutting at an angle, so that the cardboard isn't seen. Great tip with the double sided tape, also using the baking paper on top of the glued card for when weighted. I totally agree that kindness is the most important thing in this world🥰. I see that this is an old video done four years ago but is certainly a goody. Luckily, it came up as a suggested video for me. Thank again, Alison from Western Australia 💕

Something I do with my scrapbooking is creat a cut out template, creating a window. I made it with the clear thick plastic cover from a display file and then I can move my window around on my photo to get the best part. You could then score a line on it as to where to cut. I think your cards are really lovely and I hope this makes sense

Oh Michelle! I am a papercrafter who was led by Tim Holtz last year this time, into acrylic pouring thru his alcohol inks. But you have just inspired me to the hilt! Brilliant idea. I have done pouring directly on to black medium weight chipboard and also some 110 lb. heavy cardstock because s piece was just sitting around. The results were nice enough to do something with. But what? Here's the answer. Although the chipboard would make a heavy card, it could be done. I thought of using the cardstock as a background for a card. But then I did not want to cover up the painting itself. Now I am thinking about trying to cut out a shape using a die and a cutting machine (Sizzix Big Shot or Crafter's Companion Gemini machines). As such, do a pour with reds, gold and white and cut out hearts for Valentines Day cards. I would have to experiment to see how the process would effect the painting. I also would use double sided sookwang or Scor-tape all around to instantly bond the painting into the card. I use 80-110 pound cardstock for my card bases (made with papercrafting tools) as this weight is very sturdy. But I am a card maker who now can combine an expertise of one passion with newbie experience in acrylic pouring, my nee passion. Thank you Michelle❤❤❤

Thank you Angela :) I have sealed some and left some just paint. as a card they don't really require sealing as the paint is great as it is. If you seal then yes before adding to the card. Also allow it to breathe and get rid of any sealer smell before putting them in bags or they still stink when you take them out (learnt from doing).

I then crop the photo where I want it to make several different things (including cards) with that design on it. If any get ordered they print it up and send it off. I get a small commission which is fine by me since I don't have to do anything else once I have uploaded my art and set up the products. :D I may do some actual cards though for in person selling. Yes you can use any card stock that is strong enough to not warp badly when soaking wet. I would recommend not expecting to be able to use a card painted like this without attaching to a clean card as the card gets very messy on the back.

How do you keep your cereal boxes, or whatever paper product you let the paint dry on, from warping?
@McEArt
@McEArt 3 жыл бұрын
Great question. I usually have messy hands and paint gets on the bottom of the cardboard which then sticks the card to the cooling rack I use to dry them on and this keeps them flat-ish, the back of them is not pretty though.

New here! Lovely! Do you need to seal the skins before placing on the cards?
@McEArt

Hi!! Welcome :) You don't need to, acrylic paint is awesome as it is but if you would like to you can seal them :) Depends on the longevity and resistance to dirt your desire :)

Hi Carrie yes I tried that once and the greating card warped massively as it dried and the back and inside got messy. Not fun or professional in my point of view.

I have done some like that but others I don't, They are not designed to be long term pieces of art and I sell them for $5 each.

Love the cards. But if you don’t have cereal boxes can you use poster board? Thank you for your videos. Sorry you lost one.
@McEArt
@McEArt 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Brenda, I am not sure what you mean by poster board. Some board doesn't stand up to being soaking wet very well so give it a go and see if it works for you.

so gluing the skins directly to the card works as well?

Yes that would work as long as you have a glue that works on paint

@McEArt

This is an alcohol ink pen. Not recommended if you are using it prior to spray varnish as it runs.

Would this paint pouring work on self adhesive wine labels to make cards with?
@McEArt
@McEArt 2 жыл бұрын
I don't know how well the glue on those labels would hold up to having wet paint on them for as long as paint pouring can take to dry. I have never used them before so am unable to guide you sorry.

Great question, I purchase these from a local store and not on Amazon so would only be guessing which ones are similar. If you desire to buy on my Amazon link you can use any of the links and then go to the bags and it still counts as my link. Thank you Kathy!

Hi Emma :) this is a great activity to do in the winter to use up your skins and leftover pours. I get my cards with matching envelopes from the local stationery shop but they are similar to these on Amazon amzn.to/2DGU3TL

How do you deal with the silicone? If, as you mentioned in previous videos, even reused canvases need to be cleaned before repainting, that would indicate that the silicone is still there even on the drips/excess. Wouldn't that create oily residue on the envelopes?
@McEArt
@McEArt 5 жыл бұрын
Yes it would but I keep the cards between kitchen towels to absorb large amounts silicone and the rest does not make residue marks on envelopes.

I don't see any reason for not using other coloured cardboard that is not printed on. I do not use the printed side so the ink doesn't leak through. I like the white as it looks clean on the videos.
