This was an impromptu ride on a favorite Septa Regional Rail route as a result of a last minute change in travel plans due to an unforeseen circumstance. I wound up in Philly and needed to preoccupy myself so a round trip ride to beautiful Doylestown was in order. All stations, signals, interlockings, and most passing trains are identified. A bit of poetry was thrown in for good measure. I will do a separate return trip upload but it will be highlights of that ride and the loud K3LA horn the train had. Enjoy.

Tim, to the left of the Broad Street bridge and just beyond it was Baker Bowl, home of the Phillies from 1887-1938. There was an outfield wall billboard that said, "The Phillies use Lifebuoy." Legend has it that someone snuck in one night in 1935 and painted, "And they still stink," on the billboard!

Thanks for the reminder about Connie Mack Stadium. I remember being there as an 8 year old in 1968 and seeing Richie Alllen hit a homer over the left field bleachers out on to the street. What a memory!

The RDG didn't have any Louies (SL3 cars). The PRR was the only railroad that got them.

nice video! you'll have plenty of chances to do the harrisburg rear view. you don't even have to sit in the last few rows, as long as you have your stuff somewhere in the car you're alright. when I did the ride westbound my stuff was 3 cars down and didn't have any problem since I was seat checked out of New York (though I did have to rescan my ticket after moving to the rear view so they knew I wasn't fare evading or something).

"Adversity" might've worked as the rhyme with University. (loved the poetry and references to Connie Mack and '80 Phils) But I digress. My second ride on SEPTA Regional Rail was on Lansdale/Doylestown Line on the very day of this video! And, I am only riding on these trains because of your videos, RRHG. My brother and I went for a meal at the Rittenhouse Grill and met at Lansdale for the 3:3Xpm ride to Suburban Station. (walked to the restaurant) After dinner, while waiting in Suburban for our train, I played one of your SEPTA videos for him. Missed it by that much! (the shadows suggested that you were on an earlier train) SLVs on the way to dinner, SLIVs on the return. Again, would not know any of this without your videos.

@@3985uprr Ok I thought so because overhead electric ended there. Did you ever ride the RDC to Newtown. I was really young but I rode PRSL RDC a few times with my family from Rio Grande Nj to Lindenwold and back. one car out of Cape May....one out of Wildwood....One out of Ocean City and I think two out of Atlantic City so when they pulled into Lindenwold they would be a 5 car set....I think. Maybe 6 cars. Was a long time ago and I was young. Channel is really been great! You're all over the place.... Hudson ... Delaware. Valley and all points in-between!!
