@@GushChew Yeah, that can be a bit deceiving. The gas that powers the ODM device operates a set of gears that reel the hooks back in at high speed. The "thruster" is just the exhaust; it provides no acceleration by itself. And yes, I am an absolute nerd for paying attention to those tiny details.

It still stands. The term "jetpack" doesn't simply refer to a backpack with jet-like thrusters. It's just a pack that propels the user in whichever direction using gas or liquid--or whatever resource. You might as well call it a propulsion-pack or a jettison-pack; both adjectives which support acceleration of movement which is what the technology in AoT does.

@@thebrandonrobert5693 A jetpack, if we're using technicality, is a device worn over the shoulders to propel the wearer with jet propulsion. The ODM's various straps around the thorax and shoulders may fulfill half that definition, but jet propulsion is not its mode of transit. It uses winches and gears powered by released air pressure in the tank. I've not been able to see anywhere in SnK where it states that the ODM is capable of jet propulsion aside from the video games.

That's because they are. That's the point. You cut the nape of the titans, break a part of, keep fighting, and when there isn't enough blade left you discard it and lock in a new blade to repeat the process untill all titans are dead or you die. They were designed to BE giant box cutters.

THIS IS SO COOOL!!!!!!! And this kinda sword would take so much strength to control with two hands to get precision... man... I mean... theoretically, those guys at the survey corps really had to have incredible muscle strength and kinetic balance to be able to control precision while moving. This is super cool!!!

Well 2 season was really bad. Most of episodes is just boring talk, with no information gain or character development.Action is pretty bad now too.

They say the swords need to be made out of super hard steel to be able to cut titans, but it's the grappling hooks that are the real mvp's of the odm gear, piercing any kind of rocks, bricks, the titan walls and even the colossal titan's teeth and they don't need to be replaced.
