0:44 Texture slots have been moved in Blender 4.0. You can find it at the top of the screen, to the right of where the Texture paint viewport is selected

If your texture is not transparent you should disable "alpha" when creating a new texture since that information is pointless to store. It's not a significant optimization for tiny textures, but it's still good practice.

This came in just in time and I love how informative it is while being short! But I wonder if you can make animated sprites on a model, for example a computer screen? Because I am very confused about how to make things work between Aseprite/Blender/Godot. I would really appreciate if someone could help!

When I do this with your exact steps the painting doesn't paint evenly on all sides of the square. As an example the grid it paints on one face is offset from the grid it paints on another face, and oddly sometimes when i get near the corners and paint it will paint on other corners of the object i am not trying to paint on. Any idea why these things are happening?

Does it matter the unwrapping method used? I think that depending on the model you may run into some texel density issues (basically keeping the same pixel size across the model). Anyways this is a good tutorial, right to the point and easy to follow :)
@garbaj3 жыл бұрын
yes, the unwrapping method will affect the texel density significantly. For example I unwrapped each side of the crate individually so that I could use the entire 64 x 64 texture for each side

ok now we just need a scene to do a low poly / texture (whatever) with some realistic lighting rendered in cycles with the pbr shader. i'm thinking of a "old school looking game" with cycles + pbr rendering and see how that would look like xD. i'm bad at pixel art sadly oterhwise i would try it myself

One issue I'm having is that I have a full 3D model, but I did the old school technique of having different body parts be entirely different objects. Now when I try to do this, despite the fact all the parts are on the same UV map, I can only texture one at a time.

I think it would be nice if you could do the quick tutorial in the beginning, but then go in some depth afterwards for anyone who wants to know more. I would've liked to see you draw the box texture in a timelapse while explaining some of the thought process. It looks like the texture has highlights and shadows - I think most people watching this video would like to hear you go into more depth on how you chose your colors, why you chose certain patterns, etc. This tutorial is valuable to the person who just needs to know how to texture paint in blender, but doesn't provide enough depth for people who, for example, want to learn how pixel art is drawn/shaded. Also, with smart use of the new chapter system on youtube, you can label the first 1:26 of the video as "Tutorial" and the rest as "Explanation" to serve both audiences.

@shahniel10 күн бұрын
he explained it pretty well, i'm not sure i understand your complaint. the purpose of the video was to show how to paint a pixel texture onto a mesh, and he showed it under 2 minutes. a short tutorial like this won't help if you want an in depth explanation, but either way it was accurate to the title.
