Using the Bambu Lab A1 Mini for this (Not my Creality K1). The A1 mini has been a much improved 3D printing experience. I can focus more on designing and printing with Bambu Lab instead of calibrating a 3D printer! I am interested to see which competitors can learn and improve from Bambu!

Shapr3d is my favourite tool. I like your short tips. For my next project I need to do some dovetails too but sadly it’s not my design and only a STL is available. Abo is out and I hope more design tips are coming. Thanks for the video!

You could always import the STLs into FreeCAD/ Ondsel and then refine and convert it so you can export as a STEP file but maintain geometry but still be able to modify it in any other program with no issue. Takes a couple mins. Had to do it recently with a few and its been great.

Thanks for the info. Running into an issue where my copy does not have the dovetail that I created. Tried selecting both but no option to copy when dovetail is selected.

Tapered dovetail would be better rather than relying on friction alone.

In the launch groups some suggest it’s oriented as a prebuilt Voron and not competitors with Bambu, but time will tell 👍

@xyzrecap. that makes more sense! I have a k1 as well and im digging the less tinkering more cad work and proto typing, so may just save for a bambu and wait to see how the arco turns out. Hard to pass up $200 off from kickstarter tho haha

Do you think this would work also for a container that needs to be watertight? I need to print a 3mm thick container that is 40*22*13mm to put water in and my print bed is 25 cubed

Assuming the printed walls aside from the joints are watertight, any leakage with the joints might easily be sealed by silicone/caulk. I have not made a project like yours to say for sure, but I do think this might give you what you’re looking for. Great question! 👍

The problem of small build plates could be solved if all these slicers automated dovetailing. Btw, this video needed to be longer.

Missing something first how are you copying body and the sketch (Dovetail cutout) every time I try I get 1 or the other. Also, after offset you say grab 1 of the lines! Which one original or offset. obviously I'm missing somethings sorry I'm still new to modeling

In an update, the sketch does not copy with the body. Copy the body first, and move it over along in one direction by a set number (ex 80mm). Copy the sketch next and replicate the movement. Regarding the offset sketch, it’s important to move those opposing sketch lines outside of the boundary of the body. LMK if you have any other questions 👍
