3D printed 3D scanner BiHor3D 360 Kinect Xbox

I needed portable solution for Xbox360 Kinect sensor, with standard ports and modular case design. I also needed it to be mounted on any regular tripod, with no need for any other printed part. This setup is now portable (12v 1,08A-2.5A battery pack, USB B cable and laptop with working battery is needed).

resolution of this scanner is not great but good enough to make some nice printouts.I believe those glass circles are actually not lenses but protecting glass only. So you can reduce the size of the scanner much much more, also I will decrease distance between boards inside by use of shorter standoffs. Nice project anyway.

You are right, resolution is not good but for invested money it is good enough (it is good for scanning people). Design could be reduced a little bit and battery could be added with 3s BMS for 12v battery pack from laptop battery (18650), if someone does not do this changes i will. Best regards.

Interesting, would it be possible to Coffey a few together to make a beam that takes the scan at the same time , for example scanning a full human with 4 scanners

It's good idea which using kinect to do 3D scaning. But in fact, there is no need to disassemble and print the case at all, you only need an adapter (may cost $12) or cut the wires and solder the 12V and USB sockets, otherwise it is a waste of time and money, also may damage the kinect, unless you want to study what's inside of the kinect.

It is good option to but i needed case that looks presentable. New version of Kinect scanner has good case and place to put connectors in so it does not need this type of the case. Also i wanted to add battery pack as module so i needed case that will support this upgrade in the future. In this case only laptop will be needed and USB cable. It will also be good for someone to explore how to make quality better so that this could be used for scanning objects and prototyping replacement parts on that scanned object. Best regards.

I think that there is newer version for Xbox one. This one V1 version is only for Xbox 360. But maby you can try and tell as if it will work.

@Matt Stammler it about 480p.. the Xbox 1 kinect is about 1080 dpi.. as for time to scan it doesn't take that long to scan, obviously depending how big the object is you are scanning
