I am starting work on a concept for an actual full body suit of armor (obviously halo inspired). Part of the manufacturing will involve 3D printed molds for composite material. Firstly - absolutely stunning job, feels like you could make a proper halo fan film with it!!! I just wanna say that while I am far from my former days of hardcore halo fandom, I still love the armour designs and there's a part of me that still wants to make excellent armour like yours. Halo's hey-day might be a memory for me, but seeing fans still be this passionate and talented about a brilliant universe and cool game still reaches (no pun intended) a part of me that just makes me feel all the good feels. Thanks for posting your (Great!) journey in putting your totally ace cosplay together. Keep kicking ass and having a top time w/ your future armour builds ^^

I plan on getting a 3d printer to do exactly this. I wanna try to make a full Mark 7 suit tho. Hopefully if everything goes well I'll be able to get a printer this year. I wanna learn how to make my own models and stuff as well. So hopefully I'll get to a point where I can print pieces that fit me perfectly and all that jazz. Plus if I can't find a file for something I need well I can just make my own.

@_Bren__
@_Bren__ Жыл бұрын
I didn’t actually scale these files for me. These are NerdForgeDesigns’ files which were already designed for someone about my size so it just kinda worked out. Overall it took me almost 5 months to make the armor. I’d say it took nearly 4 months just to print everything. I definitely recommend double checking the sizes on your helmets to ensure your head can fit through the bottom. Cause some helmets are big enough to fit your head but the hole at the bottom isn’t big enough to fit over your ears

I've been thinking about printing my own armor for a while now, but I was wondering how durable the suit is. Like would it survive if you fell or shot it with airsoft? Oh and you should print a gun to go with the armor too.

It could easily survive air soft. Mine has been shot with air soft pellets and it only left little dents. But large falls could cause some pretty serious damage

Personally, I just used some thin black EVA foam attached to a black tracksuit. But I think if you are willing to put it in the time and effort, foam is better for mobility. Though if detail is more your thing, printing with TPU or another soft filament provides a really game-accurate look.
