3D printed system to design any size shelves. This is definetely not for heavy duty use I personally use it as my wardrobe.

All it would take to make this MUCH stronger would be to put a detent on the inside of the U cap where it makes contact with the dowel. Just enough so that it compresses into the wood and acts as a lock.

I like your ideas, and the cool templating software, or whatever it is termed. In my shelves, I believe I have a lot more plastic than you use. I used a thingiverse L-bracket and T-bracket design (3 shelves, 2 sides) with ikea cabinet shelves and glass panel for the top shelve. Had to extend the legs, to clear the walls baseboards. Pretty stable, but mdf shelving is too heavy. I wish the ikea aluminum tube & glass shelves were still available. Or even the older pine shelving. Both were quite lite and stable.

Totally agree. He can just use rectangular bars instead of cylindrical. And then just use metal angles to secure shelves. No need for this overcomplicated design with threads and knobs. I would understand if he planned to move shelves lower or higher, but it does not look like he did. Also it is not easy anyway.

Racking forces will destroy this and putting any weight on these shelves will cause the brackets to move down the smooth dowels .The hardwood dowel is not very strong, and racking forces will destroy the plywood or the 3d printed brackets.

Awesome design, just enjoyed seeing this. To handle the wobble would it be possible to add a cross wire system with very little modification to the same clips.
@tricksyhobbitses1695
@tricksyhobbitses1695 Жыл бұрын
My guess is that the wobble you see when he is finishing up assembly isn't poor structural integrity, but because the whole assembly is so light, it moves when he torques down the nuts. The assembly seems to move all together, not flexing in sections as it would if it were a structural issue
@grzeskucin1909
@grzeskucin1909 Жыл бұрын
@@tricksyhobbitses1695, adding some corners would stabilize that assembly. Yestarday I finishied some very light 12mm plywood shelf and it was wobbly as hell berfore adding some small corners. Also you can mount it to the wall to add more stiffness. Furniture can be light and stiff.
