Thanks so much to Adrian Bowyer from RepRap and Sanjay Mortimer from E3D for answering questions for this video!
In this video Jack explains how the 3D printing revolution began. The video shows the products, events, people, companies, and ideas that impacted the 3D printing industry. Also, an interview with Adrian Bowyer, the creator of the RepRap project, and Sanjay Mortimer, a director of E3D-Online, is incorporated in the video. The video starts with the Fab @ Home Model 1 and the RepRap Project and ends at 32-bit control boards that are advancing 3D printers today.

This was really interesting. It's hard to believe this video hasn't got any more traction than it has. It's a worthwhile watch.

You just earned a new subscriber. I enjoyed learning the history of home-based 3D printers. But why didn't you talk about the Delta style 3D printers? You only touched on the SLA and SLS 3D printers while spending the bulk of your time on filament style machines.

MakerBot turned into a leach as soon as they closed source. Having an open source system was their biggest selling point but they ran the company solely around variations of 1 product when they should have focused on innovation like Prusa. Selling out to Stratisys was such a huge disappointment too and was not what they sold the community on.

Aside from my very biased opinion on MakerBot, the video was very informative :D

As an addition to this, while the Tangibot is cited as the biggest contributor to Makerbot's closed source move, it should be noted that they'd already begun to lock down their designs before the Tangibot ever came on the scene. There was also their bad behavior around taking community designs on Thingiverse and patenting them, as well as the furor around the Automated Build Platform (rip).
