My dad used to play his guitar and sing this song to me when I had to go to his house late at night because my mom was having parties and doing drugs (shes sober now). He passed away March 9th 2018, every time I hear this song it brings back so many memories and it hurts so bad to know he's gone. I'm happy he isnt hurting anymore, I miss him so much. This song used to fill my heart with so much love in the past. I drive a truck across the country (US) and when I was away from my precious wife and 5 kids for 2-3 weeks at a time. I did this for a year. I used to sing this to her every single day. It was amazing how much we were in love. I loved coming home into her arms. But sadly in 2016 she passed away with lung cancer, now this song is a two edged sword in my heart. It warms my heart thinking of our 30 years together, but it cuts deep and I bleed with sorrow missing her.

My husband loved this song. We used to take a yearly vacation on a houseboat with friends. The last vacation, he played this album/song over and over for 7 days. We were ready to steal it from him. He died a sudden and unexpected death at the age of 40. It took me YEARS to listen to it without crying. I no longer cry when I hear it. I now see him with that beer in his hand, in his wakeboard shorts, standing on the roof of that houseboat, living and LOVING his life and all that was surrounding him. Though his life was short, he probably lived more in those 40 years than most people do in a lifetime. And THAT is what immediately comes to mind when I hear this song.......along with a huge smile on my face and with so much gratitude that he was in my life. He was one hell of a good human being and I say that not because I was his wife. I say it because the world lost a very good soul the day he died. As I sit here and listen to it now, it occurs to me how much this song applies to my story. The circle of life....One dies and another is born. I hold on to the fact that when he took his last breath, he knew how very much he was loved. I wish that for everyone. Thank you for allowing me to share this most treasured memory.

He is addicted to drugs. And I couldn't save him, unfortunately. He is back to drugs and I am back to the missing. Now... to the missing for someone who I really loved. I have to survive and live with the pain from now. Because I don't see him anymore. I only see the memories.

This video got me literally crying as i can totally relate to this scenario. Since childhood i really wanted to become a doctor just like my favorite teacher. i focused in school really hard and earned honors. But i made bad decisions and a wrong turn somewhere and it cost me my ambition. Life turned for the worse after my parents died in an accident, i rushed away from home to work in the city and left everything behind. Unfortunately, i ended up lost in drugs and other petty crimes. In 2009, i was rushed to the hospital for multiple stab wounds and another one in 2012 for a gunshot wound in the chest that penetrated a lung, both incidents were gang related violence. After a successful operation and my condition stabilized, the head surgeon gave me a visit while i was on my way to recovery. At first i wasn't able to recognize her, then she revealed to me that she was my grade school teacher and she was really happy to see me all grown up and a chance to finally speak to me. But her smile slowly dissipated as she told me that it really saddened her the first time she stitched me and my second trip to the operating table broke her heart in pieces, she also confessed that a few months after my parents died, she tried to make an arrangement with my uncle that she will pay for my education and lodging so i will continue on my ambitions, but it was too late. She later added that it made her feel like a failure because she saw a bright future in me for my discipline and diligence in school and not this criminal state i am in now. It was at this emotional moment that i began to recall everything about her and it made me break down in tears, she was my inspiration and my goal was hers too. And in a surprisingly swift move, she suddenly turned me on my side and then inserted a carrot in my butt.

I just rediscovered this song after God only knows how many years as I'm sitting here remembering my wife on what would have been our 26th anniversary and I can't stop listening. We married February 10th 1996 and she passed away on July 20th 2018 after a battle with ovarian cancer. This is our 4th anniversary since she passed and not a day goes by that I don't think about her and as the song says she's still with me in my dreams. I'm eternally thankful for all the years we had, the memories and the son we made together, and the love that we shared. I remember being hurt as a teen cuz my ex didn’t appreciate me. I thought something was wrong with me. Why didn’t she love me as much I loved her? Why wasn’t she into me as I was into her? As an adult I realize she was wrong, she mistreated me, she never loved me. I’m living a much better life than she is and I had to move on to something better. I’m almost grateful she showed me that I needed to stand up for myself and expect better.
