In this video I take you through the steps of installing a snorkel kit on a 3rd gen Toyota 4runner. This kit can be found on Amazon, Ebay and I believe Alibaba. The kit is quite a bit cheaper than the Arb kit but really does the job just as well. The overall fit and finish is decent except for the major flaw in the template.

Yes to the snorkel! I have one on my 4Runner. I have to say they are legit and when you are running behind another vehicle on one of those trails that are so dusty that day turns to night...its so nice having that air intake up high!

ich verstehe nur sehr wenig Englisch. Aber dieser Mechaniker hat das so super erklärt, wie kein anderer Ich als Deutscher habe dass sehr gut verstanden. Klar und deutlich. ! sehr sehr gute Tipps hat der Schrauber gegeben. Vielen Dank für das tolle Video. und für die gute Beratung. Du hast ein gutes Essen und ein paar Bier verdient Thank you

I'm going to be adding mine over Christmas. Bought it used on CL but it was missing a couple of parts and the paper template. Just cobbled all the missing parts together (thanks to a relative in Australia). I'm just across the Straight in Victoria.

Thanks for sharing Kelly, looks great and the install doesn't seem too bad, definitely need a helper at times. Do you ever have to flip the top intake 180 if it is raining while driving, just not sure how rain/snow etc stays away from entering in?

Thanks, to be honest I don't know. I geuss ifnit was a down pour it wouldn't be a bad idea, let test it out.

Thanks for your reply.. I look forward to your next off road adventure. I keep saying one day, it is a goal of mine to get a rig and find someone to go out with... a 4runner would be great and 5 speed manual. Side question.... Do you have any repair videos for 3rd gen 4runners?... timing belt/water pump, wheel bearings/hubs, brakes... heck I'll watch any repairs no matter how simple or complex. I like to investigate repairs before a purchase so I know what I'm up against. Take care. 🍻

Great video, Tnx for sharing. I have a question, before I buy one of these snorkel I like to know if I need to buy the extended rubber pipe? I’ll be installing this on a 2000 4Runner which is the same apparently as 1st Gen Tacoma. Some say I need to buy extension pipe, is correct?

If you plan to go wading and this isnt just for looks , do you need to put in an elevated diff vent at the same time? No treatment of the drilled holes to avoid rust getting a start?

Maaate,, nice fit up,,,,, until you DIDN’T flip the bracket on the window pillar,,, You’ve should have turn it 180 deg ,,, so the pop rivets and bracket are underneath the Snorkel…. No trimming of the window moulds.. 💔

It doesnt fit like that on this kit, it won't reach. The only reason that moulding is cutting is because it's not oem. On my truck it's oem and doesn't need to be cut.
