These definitely add looks, but the week link is the point they are connected. The old points I believe are shipping the downs vs recovery. During recovery, frame damage may occur. These will be perfect with an aftermarket steel bumper. Perhaps I'm wrong and these mounting points are designed for recovery.

You should tie a wire or something from the shackle itself to the hole on the pin it keeps the shackle from coming off. That way you don’t lose your shackles on the highway and/or throwing them through someone’s car behind you. It’s just to keep the pin from backing out and it makes it a little harder to steal the shackles.

I tried to install these on my Tacoma yesterday and something snapped attached to the bolt inside when I was trying to remove the drivers side. Now I can't get the bolt out and something is rattling around inside.

Would love to know if those brackets are engineered tested as an actual recovery point ? Just to let you know if you drive down many off-road tracks and hit wash boards where your truck is going to be rattling a lot you will lose those D shackles, as the vibration will cause them to unscrew and they will drop off I know from experience. To my knowledge as well the brackets you were calling towing points they’re not they’re actually tiedown points for the vehicle to be tied down in shipping you shouldn’t really pull anything on those as they would more than likely rip off.

Those demon bracket is not rated for recovery. People use it just for looks. Lol

No capacity ratings. They're good decorations, for tiedown applications, and similar to the unrated factory hardware, but NEVER pull anything with them or use them in any recovery situation.

Just to clarify, anything that is attached to the Tacoma part #51021-04022, Crossmember Sub-Assembly, is NOT the same as attaching something to part #: 51112-04020 Extension, Side Rail, RH; or to #51122-04020 Extension, Side Rail, LH. Those are both directly fastened to the frame side rails. Just take a look with a flashlight under your truck to see the material and structural differences underneath. Also look to see where the front bumper is connected. Yup...to the frame side rail extensions.

Awesome vid dude! Question for anyone that may know the answer: my off road only came installed with one of the stock “shackles/tow hooks” … I have one on the passenger side but not driver side. And there’s no pre drilled holes to install one. Basically I can’t install a set of shackles which sucks. Anyone know why my truck only came installed with one?

Question for fellow tacoma owners. I’ve heard and seen people use the demon brackets for looks only and for actual recovery points. Some say they’re not rated and should not be used for recovery. Others say they’re good to go for snatching (recovering) What’s the answer?

I’d say if it’s you Stuck and someone winches on your d brackets it’s ok for slow, light things but if a f150 is stuck in mud and you want to pull it first of you’ll use your rear and second the bar might bend if the force isn’t distributed between the bar. Basically if you pull mostly at an angle you might bend that bar

I modified (grinded a little off) the back of the removable factory hook so I could leave it on with the new shackles and brackets. I basically put the new shackles on for looks. I'd pull something light with them, but I've still got the factory hooks if needed to go heavier and I'd tow from the rear tow package if it was something pretty big. I also put some rubber filler in the bracket so it wouldn't rattle. They look cool!

I’m not sure about replacing it, but you can tape off the area around the “TOYOTA” and spray paint it. That’s what I did to mine

According to their website the shackles are used for recovery situations. Also, according their website their American made, but the box the shackles come in say made in China haha

@@ShogunInTheSnow I installed Raptor Lights from Tacoma World a few months back. Holding up well here in PA through the cold weather and snow. They snapped in as they should and the wiring is high quality. Easy install.
