Heather will probably tease herself about the nervy vocals a few years from now, once she's toured extensively, but I love the messy beauty of it. Hope I'm lucky enough to catch their next US tour. ^.^

The rhythm section is super solid. Makes up for some of the repetitiveness and lack of enthusiasm. Overall I like the 80's aesthetic and they have some catchy songs. I'm looking forward to following their progress as they mature.

Taylor Maddox if you believe I'm wrong, please enlighten me on your opinion
@kingcobrajfsofficial6 жыл бұрын
What about this band conjures up images of groups like Rites of Spring, Mineral, Christie Front Drive or even Sunny Day Real Estate to you? Unless you're just one of those people who lazily throws the "emo" moniker on anything with band members dressed in black and looking or sounding sad..? Save for some of the guitar playing maaaybe being akin to the lush soundscapes of early Slowdive, the "dream pop" tag falls short as well. This band is nice for the style they play, but trying to put them in a box with inapplicable genres is just silly. Call it like it is: They're a pop band with with a goth aesthetic, crafting songs remarkably similar to the band who've given them a spotlight on their tours/label.
@YouWereMyConscience6 жыл бұрын
Taylor Maddox I used the word emo to describe lyrical content of which reminds me of American Football and yes, Sunny Day Real Estate. Whereas the guitar effects and overall sound reminds me of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and Asobi Seksu, albeit more subtle then them. You see where I'm coming from?
@kingcobrajfsofficial6 жыл бұрын
These lyrics are borderline Taylor Swift song content so, no, I don't see the American Football or Sunny Day Real Estate references whatsoever. Those bands write clever lyrics. Everything from the pace of these songs to the guitar sound is The 1975. You would be hard pressed to find many people who disagree.

Curious to know if her sense of pitch is off in general or just in these live contexts. It's very easy to pitch correct studio takes. The BBC performance sounded pretty rough too. As for being a starting band, these musicians are obviously experienced. So I'm curious as to why the pitch is so off haha. Can't really listen to it here.

I'm really liking this band, but I want to know how this is live, when we hear all kinds of synth, keys being played in the background, and background vocals also? I hate a fake live track. I do agree with many others that she's got some vocal fails going on in this performance, but she also looks terribly uncomfortable and I'm guessing the nerves got to her. Still very enjoyable music.

The “meeeeeEEE, youuuuuEHH” thing is annoying as fuck... those accents at the end of her words wtf. Put more into it the droney 80s pop crap was boring as soon as it was made. Also the songs need to stop being so OVER produced fuckn hell and sounding the same it’s absolutely boring. Put some thought into it. And the 1975 hand gestures fuckn kill me bloody hell. Fuck right off with that jumped up bubblegum bullshit -Gordon Ramsay

how old is the singer?? she really needs to work on her vocal technique. kinda reminds me of when lana del rey started out. not just the flat notes, she has zero vibrato, even all those vocal effects can't hide that. I could be wrong but she seems like she's trying hard to have her own signature tone but its not really natural to her, so she doesn't really have proper control of it yet. Either that or her singing technique is not that great in general. The music otherwise is quite derivative and unoriginal, and these are all standard pop songs with the classic Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Bridge/Break-Chorusx2 formula. The benchmark to be marketed as different/unique has gone down pretty low these last few years.

most young singers lack consistency for live performance tbh, it's a combination of nerves and just general green-ness in their technique. idk why ppl act like this is a new phenomenon. assuming they maintain their current momentum i expect her to be a killer live performer in a year, tops.
@lalfakzualahnamte20216 жыл бұрын
wohdin I wouldn't call 22 as "young" if someone is serious about being a singer. Also, I watched a few KZfaq videos of their live performances at different venues and she's consistent, consistently off-key. So yeah, she really needs to work on her toning and delivery.
@briancrawford87516 жыл бұрын
At least she looks more presentable without all that clown makeup on. The music still sucks, tho.
