The greedy guy making notes of non tippers is wild. Agree with the rest of the lads though. Being spiteful and changing the experience based on a tip is wild to me. I'd never pretend or alter the way I do anything, the price I tell people for tattoos is the price I have as my end figure, if I get tipped, nice.. but if not I'm not gonna sulk with my lunch and go somewhere else to spite someone that didn't tip lol.

I feel like this tipping culture is such an American thing. Im from Europe and only tip when it actually feel like someone was nice, i tip at restaurants and in taxies. For tattoos? no? i pay for ur service i expect a normal service, i would only tip if i really feel like my artist goes above and beyond. You dont go around tipping ur dentist, ur cashier in the supermarket etc. Alot of waiters in Europe get a fixed salary and alot of the times tips are shared so their not gonna sweat for a tip. However saying waiters in Europe are providing worse service because of the shared or no tips? Like thats a HUGGGEEE cap, no idea where u went but most waiters here are great. If you see anything about bad waiters thats mainly in America.

Definitely think that tips are more measurable to the artist on a lower priced tattoo then extremely higher priced. For example, a $200 vs $2000 session. A 10% tip. Being $20 vs $2000. After the tattooer pays out their 40-50% to the owner of the shop and minus certain supplies and considering in the case of a $200 tattoo, that could be the tattooers only tattoo for the day, they may only make $100 on a 8hr day at the shop. Compared to the tattoo that’s charging the $2000, they still made $1k that day. So that extra $20 or $40 can really be a difference in the first scenario. I don’t the the general public understand that tatters do not get paid by the hour/ that most are on a percentage. If your at the shop for 8hrs you need to charge at least $200 a day too make $10/hr. When you factor in your drawing time at home/prep and clean up time it’s not even $10/hr.

I’m not tipping once I pass 800$. Honestly tipping for me is dead. I understand in the food service industry tips are relied on, and some services (haircuts, nails, cabs) but I used to work in the Hunts Point Market in the Bronx as a porter, I would stack and wrap pallets of produce merchandise that cost well over 3000k$ and would weigh up to well over 800lbs of product. I would deliver over train tracks, in the snow , rain, and summer heat and on average would only get tipped 1-5$. So yeah if you’re trying to pull tips from me it’s gonna be pretty tough.

Well... It sounds like I'm a big tipper. I always thought it was expected to get $40-50 on a few hour session.

The Thing you guys are not getting about European tipping culture is that waiters get paid a fixed amount but they get like 12,5Euros an hour before tax. So "fixed" their yearly income after tax is like 18.000Euro which you cant propperly live of at all. So this whole talk about European restaurant staff not putting in the effort because they are getting their money anyways is simply wrong. You probably just prefer kind of service you are used to. But I dont think the fact that a country has a different etiquette from the one you are used to for service is a good reason to portrait people as lazy idiots. Next time stick to running your mouth on topics you know stuff about.
