Great review, all relevant informations and also some emotions from riding it in one video 👌🏻 i'm a proud owner of the core 4 - it's the most fun bike i've ever had and the pricepoint is unbeatable for what you get 🤘🏻 the only "defect" i had was the already mentioned frame protection and the cable inlets comming loose after rough rides 🔧 but those are minor problems that doesn't really matter that much in my opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️

consider the jeffsy to be a bit more all-around than the capra. if the majority of your riding is aggressive trails and rarely flowing, up/down trails, the capra is probably best suited.

I’m in between this, a Norco Optic C3 and a Privateer 141 right now and I have no clue which one to go for. I prefer the wheelset, brakes, and drivetrain on the Privateer but the geo on the Jeffsy might be more suited for me since the 141 in a P2 is really long. The Norco is my plan C just in case neither of the other two work out.

I'm confused.... you have to run 20% sag to boost jumps but you also mention it soaks up trail chatter very well when running 30% sag. Are you changing air spring pressures in between every run to suit that specific trail? If that's necessary, then this suspension design is very flawed, especially considering this is marketed as a do-everything trail bike. I've never heard of a bike company recommending anywhere near 20% sag (maybe for an XC race bike), and you said yourself YT recommends 30% sag. No mention of volume spacers in the review either.
@vitalmtb
@vitalmtb 3 жыл бұрын
spring pressure increased on park days. as you can see in the video, the bike is being ridden very hard on big jumps that blow through travel under compression going off lips for our tester. no different than freeriders at FEST running stiff suspension for the same reason. spring pressure was backed off on trail riding days closer to recommended.

It's a great bike but some of the stock components are trash and need to be replaced. I got rid of the bars, stem, grips, pedals (it actually came with cheap plastic pedals) and upgraded the engagement in the rear hub from 36 -> 54 points (sadly that's all you can do for those hubs). The frame protection on the chain stays rubs from your shoes pedaling. I wish I would have put ride wrap or something similar on before my first ride. I also wish the Core4 came in better colors than red or black. I'd argue a little about how good it climbs though, my XXL core4 weighs in at 34lbs with carbon bars / AL flat pedals. It's not that light. The review skipped over the garbage Fidlock water bottle that YT sells for the Jeffsy. Don't bother with that.

@@parker5323 Agreed. I didn't expect that I'd keep the grips or the pedals. I could have gone either way on the bars / stem. They spec with Renthal but not good Renthal so off to the parts bin with the stem and bars. I get that they need to cut costs to sell the bike for what they sell it for. I'm not complaining about having to replace them, just providing info and my opinions on the bike / build.

@@Ghostina1 yeah I agree that broken spokes are usually part of the game. In the case of the aluminum e13 wheels it's the rim that cracked around the spokes, in several places and several cases of different people. As for the e13 carbon cranks I've only seen lots of other people posting a break in the connection area with the pedal. Sometimes after a hop/drop, no strikes to rocks necessary. So for me anything e13 is a health hazard 😂 There's other examples too. Like their dropper post any probably more.
