Sounds like the fuel pumps going out or the fuel filter needs changing. I would run a fuel pressure check. Mass Air Flow Sensor can be in the mix as well. I always start at the fuel filter. Good luck!!!🙂👍

@@toddc7916 the fuel filter was changed about 2 months ago. Im taking over the maintenance on this truck. This is my daughters boyfriend truck which he got from his grandfather. She had a factory 2.2 that they did a 4.3 swap years back, like 7yrs back. The guy that did the work did all the repairs well I will keep it on the PG side but a know it all. I have personally fixed 5 screw ups of his on 2 cars. Everyone makes mistakes it happens, Ive made many. He still says even though I did fix what he messed up or made worse he was right. Due to the fact Im a female who fixed his screw ups I dont know ANYTHING and he is still right. So I dont know what Im gonna run into. I will say he was the type to duck tape things and have extra parts and screws thats "not needed" kinda repair man. Its hard to say honestly. Thank you for the reply and info.

I’m having trouble my 85 impala fuel pump isn’t priming

Sound low. Sounds like you got a faulty fuel pump or leaking injectors. Go to auto shop and look at the specs. I truly can't remember, but wanna say 27-30 is range. 20s definitely low though. Amy other symptoms ya dealing with?

Melted😬...Doesn't sound good. Could be a few things if you're stalling. I would try to fix whatever has melted first. Check your fuel pressure as well. Could have a faulty fuel pump or if your fuel pressure drops after 15min your injectors are leaking causing you to run to rich. Might want to put a new fuel filter on too. Bad ignition coils can also be a culprit.

It worked for me. I'd give it a try before buying new injectors.

Do at your own risk, but I had no problem. If they are bad you will have to get new ones anyway. Let me know how yours turn out. Do the battery test first, there should be a clicking noise. If you are not getting a noise submerge them in injector fluid and shake them around a bit to get the solenoid loosened up. Make sure you dry them out a bit then try the battery test again. You should here them clicking. Best of luck!!

@@toddc7916 could dry in a bag of rice, ziploc overnight, i heard that is how to dry a cell phone if it is dropped and not turned on, don't turn it on, leave it in the rice

This type of injector has one half of its body sitting in gasoline when it is in the car. Thus one can have the injector in the ball jar vertical but only have the bottom portion of the injector covered with cleaner. To hold the injector one can cut a hole in a coke can and cut the can so it is just 1 inch tall.

I got a rebuild kit, gonna try a partial rebuild, replace fuel diaphragm and some o rings, pull injectors, soak bottoms in cleaner, make sure they pass click test, Id like to start this 86 Astro, 4.3, I can get more parting it, or whatever, it needs a windshield and an interior.

No they both would not make a clicking noise.

@@toddc7916 thanks would your fuel injectors fuse work properly when you test it ? Thanks my fuse box only has certain fuses lighting up... fuel injector 1/2 aren’t along with a few other fuses. While the ac fuse & window wiper works

Sounds like your injectors seal(s) are bad. This video was mainly for injectors that have sit up a few years.

@@toddc7916 Hello Todd, hope you're well. Following up on my. Astrovan TBI. After soaking these for a week I couldn't get any solvent to pass through them so I made up an improvised tool to assist. I took a 6 inch piece of reinforced clear tubing that fit snugly over the tip of the injector and my blow gun tip fit into the other end.Turned the injector,tip up and filled the hose with carburetor cleaner and clamped off both ends of the hose. I started with ten psi while activating the injector with a 9 volt battery and after about 5 cycles they started functioning. I continued forcing solvent through and increasing the air pressure up to 40 psi until I had clear and even flow through both. I installed with an o ring and gasket kit along with a fuel regulator rebuild kit and the van fired right up and sounds smooth. Thank again for posting the video.

I would never have thought about Force feeding with air pressure and carburetor cleaner. Sounds very legitimate. I will keep that in mind on future endeavors. Happy holidays

Not sure what year this 4.3 came out of. If you have the TBI throttle body it should be the same. What troubles are you having?

Mine has the spider setup i think.... i have P0102 code now.... i just replaced mass air flow ... still had horrible lack od power and bucking/hesitation... it than quit running altogether... just pulled cap and made sure timing did not move and noticed my air in take came loose again(basically was just sitting sucking air directly) which may be my problem... i bought this thing and for some reason the air intake does not fit right... hopefully this is the problem,not sure if it was loose the entire time. charging battery now... thax

@@roadstar499 to get started I would ohm out the throttle position sensor to begin with just to rule out the lack of power and the Bucking. It does sound like an intake problem you can spray water around the intake valves on all the cylinders to see if you have an intake leak at the intake when you do this look at some videos that show you where you can either poor or spray the water but make sure you don't get the water on the spark plugs when you're doing this. sometimes this extra air flow since it enters the engine after the mass air flow sensor will cause the O2 sensors to read wrong and cause the engine to run lean. This should get you started at least and if none of this still fixes it you might look at the ditributer again and only made out and make sure all of your cylinders are getting spark. Last but not least I would check your fuel filter you may even do this first you would be amazed at the gunk that can get clogged in there once the system runs for awhile if it hasn't been changed in a while

I appreciate all your help...i did get it running,but even with intake on good still has no power. sputtering....also got p0300 code after driving it around the block... will change fuel filter and take it from there...TPS are expensive ..i may go to junk yard and get one...or ebay ... i am thinking injectors dirty...i'll get back to you here when i figure this out..thax again

Wish I could tell you more. Allbookstores.com or ebay a Chilton or Haynes manual on it so you can see the ohm readings. You can check the TPS and all sensors this way before you waste some money. I have had books where the senor readings are off though. If in doubt find out how to read it and go to the parts store and see if a new one has the same readings. This has helped me in the past too.By the way some people use started fluid to spray around the intake manifold instead of water. Either way you will see the engine change up if there is a leak. You can do this around all intake components including hoses. Just make sure you don't hit the electrical connectors when you try this. Best of luck!!

he wants to know the position of the injectors inside the piece. I'm thinking he's won dering if it matters if it points back or forth when inside the carb/injector housing . ?????
