It’s a good motor. Same setup as on my Tahoe. It’s a great sounding, preforming, and long lasting motor. A great machine.
@nathanmcolton Жыл бұрын
Sounds like you've got low compression on one of the cylinders. Also, these carbureted 4.3s can be slow to start after a long period of sitting. The fuel evaporates from the carb bowl over time. The electronic fuel pump is powered by the starter solenoid initially so you have to crank it for awhile to refill the float bowl. Another option is to jump low oil pressure switch to engage the electric fuel pump and prime the system prior to cranking.
@evanbushong4291 Жыл бұрын
So it’s not an accelerator pump? My 4 barrel has trouble starting at first without some starting fluid or something
@aarnjams Жыл бұрын
The boat still runs very smooth and starts easily, wouldn't there be some rough running or something if it had low compression? The only time it takes this long to start is after sitting for 8 months.
@bradlyhunt7240Ай бұрын
@@aarnjamsmy 4.3lx does the same lope when turning over especially on a cold start. It has been doing that for 28 years (since new). Compression is within spec for all cylinders and has no problem pulling a 3 person tube. Some people just like raining on your parade.

So when pushing the button, can you accelerate the motor without putting it into gear? My last boat was a 1973 and was different.. lol. Thanks
@nathanmcolton Жыл бұрын
Yes, the button allows you to operate the throttle in neutral.
@mikelaba89852 жыл бұрын
Which 4.3 is in there?
@lewisjohnson90874 жыл бұрын
How does pumping the throttle help with the first start ? Is your boat injected or gravity fed carb?
@aarnjams4 жыл бұрын
Carburetors have an accelerator pump that squirts fuel into the venturis while starting. This give the engine a little boost of fuel to catch.

What kind of propellor is on the boat. I have a aluminium Michgan i think its a standard one. But cant find which i need. Because the one i got now is to slow in planee
@aarnjams Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what type it is, but going from a 3 blade prop to a 4 blade made a huge difference, especially shortening the time to get out of the hole

I'd hope you had water running threw it it during any startup !!! I have the same motor, and running it dry even for just moments, will tear up the lower rubber impeller water pump !!!! Btw that's the pump in the lower out drive that pumps H2o INTO the motor !!!! For all you genius's who think know everything, about boats, and knocking the guy !!! Good vid, but always ALWAYS, put a set of water muffs, or in a tank and run water through it when running motor on land !!!
@aarnjams3 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course there were the muffs on with water, I have never even turned the motor over without them!

You can see the muffs and water flowing through it in the first few seconds of the video.

I have 2003 stingray 4.3 also has not been started in 4 years been sitting on lift at lake...what should I check 1st?? Batterie is dead ...boat is at my house now.. where should I start trying to get it running..ran beautifully before sitting 4 years
@aarnjams6 жыл бұрын
David Carter Your biggest problem will be bad gasoline. The best thing to do would be to siphon all the old gas out of the tank and fill it all the way up with fresh gasoline with a carb cleaner additive. Get a new battery or jump it. May need to spray starting fluid straight into carb. Once it starts let it warm up and then change the oil and filter.

You half to wait for the beeping to stop
@aarnjams6 жыл бұрын
The annoying noise it makes is a warning that the oil pressure is low, so it will always make this noise if the ignition is in the run position and the engine is not running. This warning will also sound if the temperature gets to hot with the engine on.
@awesomehunter1146 жыл бұрын
You half to have enough oil pressure to start your boat for it to work right
@aarnjams6 жыл бұрын
Awesome Hunter 1 Nope...Obviously there is no oil pressure until the engine is running! If the engine was running and the oil pressure dropped, then there is a problem

The "beeping" is a warning tone which can indicate a number of things depending on the boat. On my model, the tone indicates one of the following: low voltage, low oil pressure, clogged filter, or engine overheating. This tone should immediately cease when the engine is started, which it does. The tone is an indication something is wrong only if it sounds when the engine is RUNNING.

You shouldn't be boating did you even run the blower? Also, you have to wait for the beeping to stop.
@aarnjams4 жыл бұрын
1. There is absolutely no need to run the blower when the engine compartment has been sitting open, there can be no buildup of fumes. 2. 3. I have owned this boat for over 8 years and use it regularly and have never had one problem with it. I do all the maintenance myself. 4. Do you even own a boat, or know the first thing about boating? 5. If you're going to comment on my video, please dont insult me. I posted the video to help others compare what their boats sound like and start like after storage.
