Slow motion: 0.25x
Video and reconstruction:CubeRoot
This is the FIRST TIME a competitor achieves all sub-5 averages in a single competition.
4:48 Na perm 0.984s
Ao3R = Avg of 3 Rounds (in one competition with final)
PR16/606 means this result is the 16th fastest time for the competitor personally, and also the 606th 3x3 solve.
The second round did not shoot at 120 FPS because I was called over by the delegate for something, but it turned out there was nothing, so I was asked to go back. During that time, the camera was unattended, and I was afraid that if I shot at 120 FPS, the camera would automatically stop recording due to storage limitations, so I only shot at 60 FPS.
The slow-motion filming was done at 120FPS, while the live lighting was at 50FPS, causing flickering. I sacrificed some image quality to eliminate the flicker, please understand.
Due to the immense workload, only the first solve has very detailed reconstruction subtitles.

i just dont get how someone can be so fast and consistent, we haven't had a cuber achieve levels like this since prime feliks zemdegs, and he's doing it at such a young age too, out of the 32 official sub 5 averages achieved as of 29/05/24, yiheng got 26 of them, i wouldn't be suprised if he was the one to get the first sub 4 average or sub 3 single

How long did it take him to get to different times, e.g sub 10, sub 8 etc ? I mean just looking at his WCA profile it seemed very fast
@00F
@00F 2 күн бұрын
It took him 11 months to go from averaging 22-23 seconds to averaging 7 seconds. Approximately 6 months after that, he was averaging 6 seconds. Then after a competition hiatus that lasted for over a year and a half, he was comfortably averaging 5 seconds, and even broke the Asian Record on the first competition back. 1 month after that, he gets the WR average, and then breaks it again approximately 3 months after that.

@@etienneweidenfeld6468 Glad to here😍! To make this channel, I already almost gave up my cubing practice except when the competition day comes. Heavy camera, lens and tripod devices are carried every time. Slow motion just shows TOO MANY details that we haven't ever seen before. I don't think it's a decent idea to find the very small flaws. Yiheng is trying to get better timer stops recently.

He's growing too fast. His fingers are getting long and less nimble. On one of the solves he even struggled a little because of it. Too bad, Hope he gets a sub-4 AO5 before he gets too big.

Don't worry. He's not going to lose his speed and dexterity. I don't want to seem like I'm bragging or anything but I have to say this to prove I have firsthand experience. I was one of those little kid piano and guitar speed "prodigies" you occasionally see random videos of. When I first starting growing rapidly people debated if I was going to end up even faster due to it or if it would throw off my muscle memory which had developed corresponding to a different sized body. The truth is everything stayed about the same because when you're in your own body all day the change is still too slow to even really notice, even if it seems super fast to everyone else. Yiheng will probably never even really process a difference at any specific point, but if he does, it won't be that he feels bigger; it will be a feeling that cubes feel slightly smaller and easier to control lately. That happened to me on piano and guitar. I never felt bigger but big stretches started feeling inexplicably comfortable. In a way this is a bit like cube skill development in general. Often times, when you first get where you can plan a whole cross, or you get where you can plan the first pair, etc., instead of feeling like you've gotten all that much better (which you have) it feels more like you're inexplicably getting easier scrambles all the time and your mind is about the same. Hard to explain.

@@cuberootme It's physiology and physics. Shorter neurons, smaller moments/torques and other related factors. Obviously there is a size that is too small too, but you could see the change in some of his turning. Everyone keeps wondering why 6 to 12-year olds are becoming so dominant in 3x3. Similar to Leo's development. Obviously more experience can bring advantages, but optimal speed is based on certain physiology and associated physics. Getting sub-4 average is no small ask, and the lowest limits of speedcubing will be only reachable by a few. Similar to the lower limits of sprinting which requires specifics physiques to reach the mid 9s.
