In today's video, Patrick and Everett set off to make a Zircuti Ring. Zircuti combines 4 different alloys into one Damascus like blend. It's one of the most vibrant materials you can find thanks to the addition of zirconium giving a nice dark contrast. This entire ring is handmade from start to finish in Salt Lake City, Ut.

Mokume Gane offers far more potential because the materials you use and patterns you make can be much more varied. Not quite apples to apples to compare products (Timascus and Zircuti) to a process (Mokume-gane).

It's not sold in it'd pure form. It's sold in ore that still needs to be processed & extracted. That's part of the reason. The other is demand. It is directly tied to the cost. Last time demand surge, the price of a kilo went from $79 USD to over $270 USD

When you pronounce it properly it sounds better, zir coo tie. You keep the oo like from mokume/gane or Mokuti.
@AlexDuWaldt
@AlexDuWaldt 3 жыл бұрын
@@couldnotthinkofit Pronunciation is purely up to individuals. Proper pronunciation is something that gets decided over years by trial and error over what sounds like other words in that same language. Because mokume is Japanese it hails from an entirely different basket of words, dialects, and pronunciations than our own English. When making up new words pronounce them however you want and see what sticks.
