Have you ever wanted to learn how to twirl and spin a lightsaber like they do in the movies? But don't quite know how to get started? This is the video for you. In this video my goal is to take someone who has never spun a lightsaber before, and teach them 4 basic lightsaber twirls they can start with to begin their saber spinning journey. Everyone starts somewhere, and hopefully this is the place for you to start. In this video I did my best to break down each move into as simple and easy to follow steps as I could. Some of these spins will come very naturally to you, others may be tricky, but none of them are out of your ability to do!

Nice tutorial I think one thing to note is this is much more difficult with the heavy hilts like Galaxy's Edge Savi Sabers. To practice I just had to use the blade.

i definitely wouldn’t recommend a galaxy’s edge saber for spinning. far too bulky and heavy. for spinning almost always go with a simple baselit saber :)

Hey man, really useful tutorial, I’m struggling a little with the reverse twirl, the steps are clear and laid out well but when the blade comes back around to finish the rotation I’m having trouble controlling its path rather than it feeling like a natural loop with the basic twirl, I’ll keep working on it!

This is an awesome guide!! It helped me so much by breaking it down into steps! For anyone here in this comment section, how would y’all suggest keeping blisters at bay? I only practiced for like 30 minutes and already got one (then again Im using an old disney-world saber which probably isnt ideal)

When I got my first metal lightsaber and still knew how to do the first basic spin from doing battles with freinds when I was younger and when hot my second metal lightsaber I started naturally spinning my lightsaber in my battles that me and freinds do and then when I got my Disney lightsaber I started doing a combination of the basic front and back spin combined and it was just coming naturally now my only thing to learn is the obi ani which is the figure 8 but extended and harder but with more practice I’ll eventually be able to do it

Dude thanks so much, this totally worked and helped out. I haven't tried the last one since I dont have enough space as of currently, but I will try that one within the next few days. I could use some work on the reverse twirl and figure 8, but overall the first three worked. Thanks so much!

Basically, for the vertical, you want to go from horizontal, to He-Man's "I Have The Power" pose into the twirl

Hey i liked your tutorial a lot, I have a Saber coming and I’m sure this will help. I got a question regarding neopixel vs base lit when it comes to spinning. Is it harder to spin with neopixel blades, since they are heavier? Do you recommend starting of with base lit instead ?

so glad to help! for a first saber go for a cheap one that you can mess around with. mine are from ziasabers and saberspro. quick shipping, good quality and great flow a starter

My problem is my grip. As I twirl, my hand slips more down and down the handle. Edit: another problem is me hitting my back 6 times within 15 seconds of spinning behind my back

Should the slicing motion in the figure-8 be done more with the wrist, or with your arm?

both- the general direction is controlled with your arm, but the twirl of the blade and direction of the slice is controlled with your hand. You can see the difference when i use my wrist vs don’t use it. :)

keep your grip primarily using two fingers your thumb and pointer durring the flick. if your saber has a choke point, best under it, if not, it may run the risk of sliding a bit

for training and spinning you’ll want a lightweight baselit. many brands offer them. my choice is kybersabers. and if you use code MILES you’ll save some $$. however a cheap PVC pipe works amazing for some rough training
