That equinox, it does have a adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist. They can be turned on by pressing the buttons on the left of the steering wheel. It’s a premier trim! You can’t say it doesn’t have those features just because you don’t know how to turn them on.

I am glad you weren't afraid to pick a winner instead of being vague. After the CR-V, I would put the RAV4 and CX-5 (not sure in what order) above the other 3 that were tested here, but I recognize you can't just get your hands on all of these vehicles at one time. Good job!

I had a test drive, with crv 2017, Nissan x trail (rogue), and finally the equinox took my heart. Safety features are really good,yes it has lane assist in which these guys said that it doesn't have, faster, very quiet cabin noise, quiet engine, smooth ride compared to all of the car's shown, awesome bose sound system, compared to honda's sound system which is far inferior. I beg to disagree about rear passenger space which these guys presented which in reality it has good leg space, not as spacious as the crv but sufficient enough to have the passengers a comfortable ride. The cargo space is a bit smaller compared to the other cars, but the Equinox have a storage area at the bottom of the boot which stores and hides small things and kept my main boot neat. Equinox also have a massive panoramic sunroof same with the rogue. Downside is the Equinox doesn’t have an Adaptive cruise control. But over-all the Equinox 2018 is the best.

My wife have a Rogue this year, drove for 2 hours city/highway, the average 33.8 mpg, the trick is with CVT when driving don't push the pedal down and don't pass 2000 rpm and you will save gas, Nissan have modified big time this transmission, you can go almost 80 mph without pass 2000 rpm, contrary to altima 2012 70 mph max at 2000 rpm, Roque have become the 1 sales SUV of all the time unbelievable, pushed for last year sales 840000 world wide

@jefferyjin5551
@jefferyjin5551 5 жыл бұрын
Rogue has a peak torque at low rpm which people don’t understand. You don’t floor it for maximum acceleration. Just as you said, when take off at a green light, keeping it around 2000 -2300 rpm will give you decent torque while saving gas. That’s why nissan has used this engine for almost 20 years.

A couple of big errors when discussing the Tiguan. The reviewer complains about the ride but fails to mention the premium model being tested has the large 19-inch wheels which will have a harsher ride as opposed to the standard 17 inch wheels. Also, complains about the transmission shifts but fails to discuss the car's various modes (eco, normal, sport), reviewer could have been driving in the economy (eco) mode. Lastly, about the car "feeling cheap" inside is purely a subjective objection. German cars are known for having a more "Spartan" yet highly functional interior.

@kylegoodman5196 6 жыл бұрын
I don't see how. Volkswagen doesn't bother with fake wood, has soft touch materials all over the car, and has one of the best infotainment units in the business. The only thing I could knock the Tig's interior for was only having one USB port. Also Car and Driver reported getting 33 MPG on the highway in a 200 Mile 75MPH loop test. So it seems like the EPA is pretty conservative with the Tiguan's fuel economy estimates.

Kyle Goodman I feel like no one mentions the price point you can actually purchase a Tiguan at. At 22k for an S, I’m having a hard time not purchasing a Tiguan over any other crossover. Plus I think they look better than anything else in the segment. People say they are slow? They are right in the middle of the competition in HP, high for torque. Why all the hate?
@andrewrockwell1086
@andrewrockwell1086 5 жыл бұрын
I also don't get where the reviewer gets the impression that the Tiguan's interior feels cheap.... the Rogue, (with all its bells and whistles) has an early-2000's feel to its interior plastics and is outdated the minute it leaves the lot. The CRV interior, while mostly good quality, is thrown off by that cheesy fake wood trim....its also styled like some sort of spaceship. The Tiguan's interior feels more like an Audi or a BMW.... I don't understand what the reviewer has against it.
@northwestgirl930
@northwestgirl930 5 жыл бұрын
Good reviews, but I'd still go with the Rogue because I don't prefer four cylinder turbo engines. My opinion is that the Nissan's i4 is more dependable. I would bet that in 15 years, there will be more of these Nissan Rogues still on the road vs the other crossovers.

Competition is great. I would say _none_ of these is a bad choice. They're all really great cars with tons of positives and only minor negatives associated with each. For instance, Rogue has the dreaded CVT, yet is clearly the Rolls Royce quiet ride of the group. Tough trade offs and decisions. I can see why they all sell so well.

I rented an Equinox with 150 miles on it so basically I got the car brand new and broke it. I put 2500 miles over 2 weeks in California so I feel that I really got to know the car. Pros: Power (pleasantly surprised very punchy) Roomy and Comfortable (Again drove it 2500 miles in 2 weeks) Practical in every way. Cons: Fuel efficiency (Not the best not bad enough to be a deal breaker) Cheap interior (I babied this rental and felt honoured to beak it in. That said I was shocked at how soon things started squeaking and rattling, fans whistling occasionally, infotainment refused to connect one night then worked fine the next day) Verdict: Great rental as it does the job and has a good room, but I would never buy this car. No experience with the others. Own a Forester 19.

Power of Pine Sol Not poorly rated as the +2016 CR-V. It has had a number of problems and owners find it is unrefine with a very high number of repairs. Very unlike Honda but that what happens when you get too big and change your recipe. The RAV4 is junk since redesign in 2013 and hasn't improved except to add led front and rear lighting to look rich. Some old cuv but Toyita pumps the rental lots with these and is tried and true.

I would take the either the Honda or Toyota as for as resale value goes since they tend to hold their value more. I use to own a 2016 CR-V with AWD and it handle poorly in snows as the rear end felt loose and unstable when you drive over snows. My 2015 Rave4 AWD which I had sold and got the 2016 CR-V on the other hand doesn't have no same issues so I went back to toyota aquire a Toyota Rav4. Not sure if anyone owning a CR-V experiencing the same issue as I have but tires on these two vehicles I've own are both nearly new.

I 've been looking at this class of car for months now we are planning a baby next year. the CRV keeps winning in all categories gas is number one for us. Maybe the new RAV 4 can change that but if it doesn't have the android auto that would be a huge let down. Toyata hasnt made a good redesign since the Corolla and Highlander(needs a new one next year)

RAV4, $1500 off (loan, buy, or lease) until 4/2. I'd look at the Hybrid SE, 32 Combined, change those OE tires though.

The CRV wins on handling. It’s steering is responsive, precise, effortless. Designed by the same team that designed the steering for the 2017 Acura NSX.

I test drove the CRV 1.5 turbo engine, and i felt like it needed more force, it felt lack, and drove the Rogue and that engine just felt good. In terms of engines i prefer the Rogue.

I personally really like the Rouge but I won't be buying another vehicle for 2 more years. Hopefully by then Nissan puts in a bit bigger engine. 200 HP in the Rouge would be nice.

Toyota Rav4, Mazda CX-5, Ford Focus and Dodge Journey, Mitsubishi, Kia Sportage, and Hyundai Tucson and maybe Subaru Crosstek if you love Manual. You missed more than you had. Oh well, my Dad has a CR-V and he loves it, but I would personally prefer the CX-5 after an Infotainment upgrade comes along.

If that Rogue had decent power I would own one. I drove it and loved it but felt the power was pretty horrendous. Looking at the turbo Santa Fe now

My wife and I were seriously considering a 2018 CR-V, but then we started to hear about problem with oil dilution. Not wanting to take the risk, we will most likely going for a 2018 Rogue SV with premium package.

Why don't you mention the reliabilty history or anticipated reliability of each brand or model when comparing cars? I'd go with the Honda just for its reliability over the other brands.

I test drove this vs the Golf vs the Tiguan Limited. The Golf was easily the nicest drive but the lease prices were awful. The Tiguan Limited was second - a Golf on stilts and was really nice to drive. My last car was a VW Beetle 2.0 Turbo with a 6 speed DSG transmission and it was the best most fun car I ever leased - a funky GTI detuned one might say. The Tiguan Limited has the same great engine but an ordinary 6 speed auto. Not in the same ball park as my beetle but till pretty good. The new Tiguan was bigger but not better than the Limited. On one start at a stop-light, it seemed like it went to sleep. I lost a second before it moved, or so it seemed. If that was due to turbo-lag, it was unacceptable. Anyway, I went with the Tiguan Limited. It is not based on VW's MQB platform, so it is dated. OTOH, it was easily the cheapest option, and I'm liking it a lot.

Pat Dooley did you get 2018 Tiguan because it is on the MQB Platform which explains why it’s over 10" longer. Also it uses an Aison 8-speed transmission.

franz wetrfres omg same here holding out for the 2019 RAV4 either that or crosstrek if and when they decide to add rear HVAC and map pockets... I won't hold my breath about the engine chances it won't change lol but over all it's a solid car but I'm tipping over to the side of the RAV4

What about the murano? With the panoramic moonroof cooled seats and 260 hp it out classes all the 5- seaters here. The murano is really a luxury competitor so it wins hands down on that front; not to mention it looks like a sporty, futuristic concept car. So you feel passionate about the looks. But it has an engine tomatch those sporty looks: 260hp moves this mid-sized suv faster than most of the lighter cumpetition at 0-60 in just 7. 0!
