3 hours of lunchbreak, that is a shock! if it's really 3 hours which is doubtful. Perhaps it's one person you asked on a break, then the 2nd one you asked happens to be on his break at the time he chose, then you thought the whole market is on a break for 3 hours. In any case, it's Only There, where you live, not all markets in the country have 3 hours lunchbreak. Nowhere in the world.Better if they don't do business at all. Each store owner in the market decides the time when they take their break and eats, while selling, they keep selling, at least in Metro Manila I know and in the big cities. Pajama--it's weird in Canada when I visited my relatives. A couple were in their pajamas in Internationa Airport. Teachers and kids have pajama days. Chinese use chopsticks. Some Asians use spoon and fork. The one you saw using spoon to cut meat does not represent the entire Filipino culture of how meat is cut when they eat. One Nigerian vlog said it's like being a dog in a tricycle. Another one said Filipinos drink pig blood---???? Another one said poor people in Nigeria are taken much better by their government than the beggars in the Philippines--about poverty, we better not talk about this. It would help to expect that foreign countries have foreign ways and culture and we wont be ever the same especially so that how we are at home wont be how other people in foreign land are. Our ways is definitely not any finer than that of any country. You are an okay vlogger at least.

@@mannyy266 thank you for your comment, as you said people have different cultures and that is true our cultures differences is what make us beautiful and interesting Concerning the market lunch break what i said was accurate at the point where we go in the market in the morning or ard 3 because that is when most people in the market are open to selling, meat sellers put their meat in the freezer until 3 to put them out that is just my experience. The pajamas was a shock because it was my first time seeing something like that pajamas parties are indoors and it’s a themed even it’s not like the usual am only talking about my experience po not judging anyone 🫶🏾

Oh no, you're fine. Even those Nigerians I mentioned weren't judgmental. They did not mean to judge. It's just LITERALLY, HOW THEY SAID IT, without realizing how it comes across--judgmental. All fine. I see that both Nigerians and Filipinos and some Asians actually as I have observed, don't have the Western skill of saying things in a subtle way, rather, we both say things as we see and feel. So to some people in the west, and to many in the Philippines also, it's inappropriate. This is not to harass you infact, I said you're OK. But I do believe the other 1 vlogger was really judgemental speaking about things that both the Philippines and Nigeria have anyway, and saying theirs is better.

People who wear their pjs usually go out at night to grab a snack, or even a quick dinner ... and, at least in most cases, have cars. I guess the idea is: I'm lazy to change, but I'm very hungry for a donut. It's late at night, so most of the public won't know me. I've got a car, so 1) access to a place will be easy, 2) I can be "hidden" by the general public most of the time when I'm out 'cause I'm in my car, OR ... I'm hungry ... AND I'M GOING OUT WEARING MY PJs ... cause that's what I FEEL LIKE WEARING!

The use of knife and fork in eating comes from the Europeans whose food always include big slabs of meat, either cooked rare or medium rare. Asians, including Filipinos, don't use knife simply because of practicality: we don't usually include big slabs of meat in our meals so there's nothing to cut. East Asians use chopsticks while most Western Asians or Middle Easterners and South Asians use fork and spoons too. Most of peninsular Southeast Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, except Malaysia) use chops sticks while insular Southeast Asians (including Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia use spoon and fork.

Lunch break is generally true in public and orivate offices. But in the marketplace you can buy anytime as long as there is someone who is taking charge of the shop. Ive been buying to a lot of public market in the Phil.and I did not experience being refused by someone because its a lunchbreak.

The lunch break at a public market is actually not a common thing in the Philippines. In Cebu, for example, it's not a common practice. Here in Cebu, you can buy vegetables, meat and other essential items at any local markets as early anytime between 3AM and as late as 10PM. No vendors would close their shop when they have lunch break. The biggest market, Carbon Market is open 24/7 though not 100% of all vendors operate 24/7.

1. Wearing pajamas by some people in public like in busy urban areas is bad and usually by young women who do not know what is good and bad. Many times, it is the laziness of the person to change their pajamas or not knowing that going around town in their pajamas is not okay with other people. However, wearing pajamas to go to your neighborhood store or just outside your house is a norm here and accepted. 2. The market closing at lunch time is only limited to where you are in the country. By now, you should know that that "shocking" event is not true at all because if you go around the country, markets are always open anytime except perhaps when there are typhoons. 3. The way you said bakit is as if you are angry. We do not say it that way all the time. When you are angry or irritated, you speak "bakit" angrily like you did. Most of the time though, when you say bakit, it is just asking why the person is calling your attention. Having stayed here for long, by now, you should already know that saying "bakit" in a particular way is not at all disrespectful way so there is no point to even mention it as "shocking". 4.As regards using a spoon to cut chicken, is that shocking enough to even mention it here? Westerners who are used to eating with knives and forks don't even mention it as shocking but you who came here from a third world country as ours is "shocked". I'm sure there are worse things or culture in your country that is truly "shocking" if foreigners were to visit your country. Using the word "shock" which normally connotes derogatory terms therefore is not correct. Perhaps different, strange or peculiar are more the correct terms.

Love your video. Let me give some reasons why we do those 4. 1.The people wearing pajamas outdoors probably is just comfortable wearing that outside, since, I myself, walks out with pajamas on when buying some stuffs. Since I am just staying at home, I don't think I need to change clothes if I am just going outside just to buy salt or an egg. There are also people who doesn't like it tho. So it depends on the person. 2. Lunch break is actually really common everywhere here. As you have said, it usually from 12 to 1pm. In the market tho, I believe, they closed down their stores in that period of time because those are the times that most the people are already at work, school, and relaxing or taking a nap inside their home since people won't usually go out to buy in the market in those times especially those are also the time when the temperature is at its peak; also for the store owners to have a little rest. They re-opens the time when people are usually going out to market to buy ingredients for their dinner. In our place tho, our market closes at 12pm and re-opens at 4 and it remains open, maybe up until 8pm. 3. True, maybe because it is more practical. Personally i do struggle when the untensils are plastics, so most likely I'm gonna use my hand instead 😂 4. Bakit actually means "why". Using bakit is usually only used with someone you are close with or someone younger than you, since it's kind of rude if you use "bakit" alone to a stranger and someone older than you. Tho, it would sound polite if you add "po" in the end. It also depends on what tone of voice is being used. Also, aside from bakit, we can also just say "po" alone, it's kinda like "yes?" in English. But it mainly depends on what tone of voice do you use. Have a great day 🙂

12 to 3, three hours of lunchbreak, that is a shock, if it's really three hours which is doubtful. Perhaps it's one person you asked on a break, then the second one you asked happens to be on his break at the time you thought the whole market is still on break. In any case, it's Only there where you live, not all markets in the country have 3 hours lunch break. Nowhere in the world. Actually, each store owner in the market decides when to take their break and most of them, at least in Metro Manila and all the big cities, take their break while selling. They keep selling while taking their break. Pajama--Canada is more weird. When I visited, a couple are in their pajamas in international Airport. They also wear pajamas SOMETIMES in school. Chinese use chopsticks, westerners use fork and chicken, Filipinos and some Southeast Asians use fork and spoon. Nothing shocking. The one you saw using spoon to cut meat does not represent the entire country on how meat is cut in the Philippines when eating. Some would be shocked to see few Filipinos in the province use their hands too. There may be two, three four, countries that have similar ways and cultures but generally, countries everywhere Are Different. Like people, or families, we are born with different personalities and God designed it that way. Going to a foreign land, it would help travellers to expect that it is not their home country so to expect things would be naturally different would help absorb the culture shocks and the difference definitely don't mean their way or ours is better, than in the country visited. You're an okay vlogger. There's one wherein one Nigerian said you seem like a dog in the tricycle, another one saying Filipinos drink pork blood--????? and another one insinuated that poor people in Nigeria are taken much better by their government when she saw beggars in the Philippines. I mean, you don't go to a foreign country and tell the world that your home is much better than where you chose to live and study. Culture shocks is for sharing, not to frown on people's ways of living. Again, this is them, not you.

You failed to mention the most common culture shock of some Philippines which is BAHO and their undeniable passion towards the love of announcing poop’s odor…while they gets jealous and get angered for sweet aroma of food that’s coming from another house… they just love to put attention to other people’s toilet. They get jealous when good smells comes from someone’s else and they feel accomplished when an unpleasant odor comes from other people’s house or apartment… You also did not add chismis which is referred to gossip. In Philippines most people love gossip even than gold and silver. And when most people gossip, it’s mostly negativity about others. They actually love to discuss about others in mostly negatively.

Don't translate bakit as what!, it wouldn't translate the same, something big is lost in the translation. It is not a rude answer or anything rude about it.
