4 DAYS UNTIL LIVING IN THE CARAVAN FULL TIME - Outboard Motor NEW Mount Configuration!

Welcome back to another episode and Thank you for being here.
THERES ONLY 4 MORE DAYS UNTIL WE FINALLY ARE ON THE ROAD WITHOUT A END DATE IN SIGHT.
In this episode after much conversation we finally have a outboard motor mount storage configuration and system we feel confident with for our travels.
Your probably thinking, Why did they change it?
For a couple of reasons..
First, The original outboard mount we had was really tall even though It had the winch system we still felt like we needed 2 people as its quite a heavy outboard.
Second, Positioning - If you have been following us you would remember when Luke hit out car on the outboard motor when turning
Thirdly, Ball weight - Ideally we want to balance our van weight as best as we can.
We both now feel so confident with this set up and are loving it so far!
Will keep you updated when this is in constant use on the road.

Soft blanket and then a cover. Padlock that motor down. And make sure you cover the cowling or it will come off out the back a Bourke some where. And take ya prop off. Store it some where else. Or someone else will... Alex is one of the good ones Luke. Well done m8

Hey guys. Funny you say about the number plate. We got a sunset caravan and they put the number plate on our van behind the jerry can. Smart hey

Pop some Clark rubber under base of motor otherwise it will scratch up and to stop it vibrating on the bracket

Sorry to say but the stowage location of the outboard is simply dangerous and will have a negative impact on the way the van tows/handles. The drawbar location was just plain stupid and now the weight so far out the back is certainly not a good decision. It doesn't matter how strong the 5 arm rear carrier is, it's the distance from the axles that you have placed that weight, the further back the greater the weight of the outboard becomes a negative factor simple as that.

You have added what? 175 kg to the worst place on your rig. It's not just adding weight in the back of the van, it's adding weight 'further back outside the van'. I would suggest you do some research into the possible implications of what you have done.

Hi Luke. A quick question: Is that a 4 stroke outboard? If so, they really shouldn't be laid down as oil from the crank case will leak back into the combustion chamber. The current position on your motor trolley is ok, but the motor should not be layed down flat. I was originally going to have 4 stroke for my travels but was talked out of it by the Marine Sales guy. No you can lean them how we have. You just have to stand it up before starting it for about 20 minutes so all the oil can run back down

Your going to need a cover to go over the motor you have to keep dust of the motor as best you you can the dust on out back roads goes through everything
