I did an experiment with my hair and started to treat my hair similar to non black women hair care and I found that my hair does not like moisturizing products. But instead response better to smoothing products. It helped parts of my hair to become smoother and reduce friction so that I could have more defined curls and they can clump together. This made me understand that my type 4 hair was no different from other textures but my technique was most definitely problematic. My hair texture changes every time I cut it and its making me realize that my hair can be most definitely benefit from both sides of hair care.

I know this is a month old...but what smoothing products do you recommend/use?👀 Cuz I swear no matter what moisturizing products I use, my hair feels dry and rough asl! 😫
@Brownmahfun
@Brownmahfun 9 ай бұрын
@@Bree_Bunny I don't know about smoothing products but in order to get your hair hydrated you need a oil mixed with mucilage. Example: mix jojoba oil with aloe vera and put on hair. I used grass fed ghee on my hair and it softens and gives it nutrients. Use just a lil of any of these things.

Hey girl, can you elaborate on what you mean by your hair texture changes each time you cut it because I also noticed since my last big chop my hair has gotten darker and more silkier and curly than last time. It was more dry brown and not defined.
@taylornikii
@taylornikii 3 сағат бұрын
@geminienergy that's exactly what I mean. Lol Different parts of my hair have become more silkier and clump together easily. Like a perfect ringlet. Especially on my crown.

@@Bree_Bunny I'm sorry I'm so late to this comment. So I use to use Garnier Fructis sleek and Shine. The way that the line would hydrate my hair was different from simply using moisturizing products. I do not believe solely moisturizing the hair will do anything. But curly hair can also benefit from using other methods to help reduce the friction in between strands. Another brand that I would recommend is the Creme of Nature argan oil line as well. This line has done well with reducing my frizz and helping with defining my curl pattern as well. Also, I washed my hair more than once a week which also helped.

I really wish we had better technology for relaxing. The FDA reports about cancer and reproductive health problems is crazy, the old tech is not it. I do a formaldehyde free keratin on my clients. I feel like it’s the healthiest option. It really does help the hair grow if done right.

Mild texturizers like Mizani are excellent for texlaxing your hair. I use to do it around every 4 months. I deep conditioned it with Shea Moisture conditioner and add Indian herbal powders to it, and it really keeps your hair strong!..Texlaxing did make my hair more dry than usual and I had to trim it more often than when completely natural, but it is worth it though, it made styling a lot more easy.

If you want to make timing less nerve-wracking, I recommend using a texturiser definitely. Thats what I did. And at least for my hair, I’d have to leave it on for about an hour to accidentally straighten it. its very hard to over process a texturiser compared to a relaxer.

I really love this video. Thank you for making me really think more deeply about what exactly I plan to do next. I have very beautiful afro hair... I have used Brazillian keratin treatments a lot. I have also relaxed my hair in the past but liked the fact that my hair has more body via the keratin treatment however I hate how it only ever lasts my tough hair 3 months maximum. I never care about other peoples negative opinions as they are not the ones feeding or clothing me so I really give their negativity no attention as misery loves to seek company!😂😂😂 So I am actually considering a possible combination of relaxer 2x a year and brazillian keratin treatments inbetween..❤

Very good video. I've been both relaxed and natural, but mostly relaxed. I like natural hair, but I have 4c hair and find it hard to manage. Both natural and relaxed I've struggled with dryness, but I'm managing it better now, by moisturising my hair as and when needed. I'm also trying my best to retain length. I've started to retain length and I'm taking some really good affordable hair growth pills. Thanks for the informative video.👍🏾⭐

Texturizes and relaxers are the same product. They are just marketed differently. If the dilute a relaxer in a thick conditioner, it’s the same. And, Keratin treatments use extremely high heat, so if you have fine hair like I do… you might want to steer clear.

Honestly factually speaking no matter how careful you are putting chemicals(relaxers, perms, permanent hair color, bleach, etc) on your hair it will damage your over time(now if damaged hair is not a main concern and you don’t care about having healthy hair I understand, my best friend bleach her hair like once a month bc that’s her look and she keeps it almost bald). It’s literally a tell as old as time. You are speaking for the experience of a person who put a relaxer on virgin hair of course the outcome is decent like every little girl when their parents put a relaxer on their hair for the first time so soft and flowing in the air. but overtime and by that third and fourth relaxer, your hair gets thinner and thinner, and it becomes brittle. And if you are one of the I only get a relaxer every six months or once a year then what’s the point? You might as well heat train. At least you don’t have to worry about the harsh burns or side effects of chemicals. But nevertheless I do believe ppl should do what makes them happy but there is nothing better than what grows naturally from your scalp no matter the texture once you learn how to properly care for your hair it will flourish. Trust me I have a 4C testimony😂💕

I used to do this 20+ years when I had a “jerry curl” (Care Free Curl). It’s basically the same thing. When I went natural I saw my hair for the first time. I have 3c, 4a, 3b, and 4c curls. We have been deceived. At least I was deceived. I paid all of that money for a long time when I was born with the curls that I paid for, unbeknownst to me. 😩 But make the choice that’s best for you.

You're natural texture was beautiful but OMG your texturized hair is so much looser and shows length better! I love the texturized. I did that many years ago myself and it was the longest my hair had ever been. I'm a straight haired natural but sometimes I think about texlaxing. The one thing that I don't like about it is obvious non-uniform textures/curl pattern throughout the head with straighter pieces.

Perhaps the method of using hair relaxer or straightener for a short time to texturize it is right for you, but I think the KCTexture Keratin Complex Treatment might have been a better choice because it strengthens the hair. It is the only Keratin Treatment that does NOT use a flat iron to lock it in and instead locks in the curl pattern made with your fingers or curlers. The advantage of this is also that you can get all the same curl pattern throughout the hair and it is not as permanent. Here is the link kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fKdlfcWc3rKwY4U.html

Besides heat, all of these are harmful to the body. These chemicals have been shown to be a link in the cause of why so many black women suffer from issues relating to their cycles, fibroids etc amongst other things.

Obviously people can do whatever they want with their hair but choosing to still use chemicals that are soo harmful to your body and to your hair is surprising. Her natural hair was sooooo gorgeous---would never Permanently change it. Do a blow out, sure. Relaxer?, nooo way! I've learned what is healthier and better and I would bever go back to a relaxer. I really just thibk that soooo many people are just still brainwashed to feel/believe that a Looser texture is more beautiful. I think most times these choices really stem from that

Girl it’s not about being beautiful, it’s about the manageability. I think my long thick 4c hair is absolutely beautiful, but I don’t got the timeee for it and nor do I desire to spend a day (sometimes 2) to just wash and detangle my hair. People have busy lives. I’m looking into texlaxing for this exact reason. And I don’t like wigs and stuff, so I don’t wear them. I know natural people just say “throw a wig on” but that’s not my cup of tea. It has nothing to do with thinking looser texture is beautiful hun.
