The trick is to PLAY with the base emotions… it’s all a joke… we’re human, we win, we lose, we live, we die…. Make sure you’re having FUN in the meantime.

You need to learn to clutchless upshift. Once you learn to do it you'll understand why, and it's easy. Put a small amount of pressure under the gear shifter, just a bit it doesn't take much, then close the throttle until the engine, gearbox and rear wheel are all balanced and unloaded, and [snick] the bike changes gear. Then you wind the throttle on again. Easy. After a few goes you'll learn where that balance point is and it becomes second nature. Save some wear and tear on your clutch, and your hand.

It's less about needing to learn. I made a video last year about clutch-less up/down shifting how to do it, when to do/not do it and also I give another method which results in faster shifting than clutch-less. "Four ways to shift on a motorcycle" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pb9loN1-vK68oaM.html

8:53 So passing someone is "reckless behaviour" but ramming into someone is not... P-lease. Those bike gang children need to grow up and recognise that they don't own the roads.

Valid comment, though I guess my point was to the people who thought they act like this due to superiority of everyone needing be behind them, which I don't believe is the main reason. Instead rider needing to acknowledge their own actions that causes situations like this.

I don't play those games with other riders. If anything, I prefer to let them whizz by and do their stupid shit. I look at it this way - I get to ride my bike the way I like and am comfortable with, which doesn't put me or anyone else in danger and I get to go home and see my loved, with both body and bike in one piece. For some reason I find Adventure bikers are among the worst riders for this ego thing - only in my experience. I ride a 2017 XSR900 and love the fun and experience it gives me. By the same token I'm also very much aware that more attention is paid to me and the bike due to its engine sound and look of the bike (I'm the second owner and first owner did some customising that gives it a slightly more aggressive 'street fighter' look), and as a result I try to ride with due care and attention, being considerate of other road users, and not doing crazy shit in order to 'show off'. I feel ANY rider is the yard stick by which every other rider is judged, so I try to give us bike riders a good impression. The other factor, for me, is that I am under no illusion as to the limits of my bike riding ability and skill set, and will never try to out-ride those. I have to respect my bike, as I am painfully aware that it has the potential to kill me if I do not give it the respect it deserves. I bought a key fob for my bike, ordered from the US, which reads, "DON'T FUCKING DIE", just as a gentle reminder each time I ride.

Yeah I notice people riding quite aggressively on these 900 type bikes Kawi, Yamaha etc. They seem to be quite aggressive by nature so self discipline is the name of the game for survival. I need to tell myself that sometimes on my R1 thats why i've been considering going back to 600's (but its not like they can't go fast either).

I would assume that where lane-splitting is legal, that at least SOME people would notice you. In Louisiana it isn’t, so I avoid it when it isn’t necessary. I’ve had people try to cut me off before…why… I only do it in dead-stop traffic. Im not hurting anyone, and I don’t do unnecessarily high speeds 17:29 through it. When I see people hauling ass through traffic, or even doing wheelies inches from cars, I feel like it people automatically put me in the asshole category just for riding

Here in Sydney a lot of people do notice me, some of them even move over. Although some people don't realise its legal and I'd love to see what goes through their mind when I lane split past cops. Also here the speed limit for lane splitting is 30km/h (20mph). As far as reputation, most riders are well behaved but it does get wild in the outskirts.

@@sparkthego We’ve got gangs of kids on dirt bikes and 4-wheelers taking over streets and causing general havoc. Every once in a while one dies…go figure. We generally just have bad drivers all around here. I stopped riding to work because everyone is drunk on the interstate when I get off downtown. I don’t see a point adding risk to an already risky ride. We just passed a no helmet law here too. I just have fun when there’s nobody on the road. A lot safer

@@alexanderlaw8411 Sad to hear about that situation, I hope you can find other places were you can enjoy riding in a safer environment.

I only "race" the 600/700s...because I ride a 300 and know I wont win. Maybe its dangerous but we both have a good time.

I used to race 1000s on my 750. They could get me if the road was straight enough, but not if there were corners. Although that was also true when I had my Aprilia 125. I passed a guy on a 600 by riding around the outside of him on a corner. Not my fault he chickened out. Getting that bike up to speed was too much work to be wasting the speed using by the brakes...
