Exhaustion meaning, you go over every detail, you relive it, until it doesn't effect you as much. You learn to recount it without reliving it. Your emotions about it are in check. You're able to see, hear, smell, taste and feel things without being triggered. It gives you control over yourself vs your trauma. Learning to cope with trauma is the only way you can lead a productive and successful life. Resources and outreach are the two main components needed. And there is a shortage of those things now. So I can only imagine what it was like back then. Mental hygiene is important.

I didn’t know the story so she kind of confused me. She sounded like she was telling the truth but the way she didn’t express any emotions other then gratification was odd. Then, when she said that the blood was the thing that haunts her the most she made it’s sound like that was the best part. And that evil smile was terrifying.

The micro expressions cause us to have that 'bad feeling in our gut' about someone, that something is off. 95% of communication is non-verbal - someone can fake facial expressions and tone of voice, but can not hide microexpressions or body language very well, I think a lot of people just want to give someone the benefit of the doubt/ignore their gut feelings.
