This is why I realized that the hair extensions that Kpop idols get (male and female) are VERY intricate and extensive process for MVs or live shows. Nano extensions, single strand extensions and also glues/tapes cause damage. The hair pieces, wigs and extensions help with the visuals but the color changes for each comeback REALLY take a toll on idols hairs as well. It is the netizens fault also for expecting PERFECT looking idols.

As a hairstylist, yes a lot of this hair loss is mostly preventable because they don’t need to change their looks, but since the expectation is to have a new look every comeback and if you don’t change said look, netizens yell at you still for looking the same. Also on the topic of wigs, I think they are a great option….if applied correctly. I don’t think the people apply the wigs to idols know enough about wigs to make it look good.

This is why I hate it when fans demand idols to try this or that hair color, or calling straight loose hair ugly. They have no idea that even dying hair back to black, tying and styling are all harmful to hair and scalp. Most idols are already under lots of stress and malnourished.

Alot of people dont wanna hear it but alot of these female idols lose hair bc of malnutrition, they obviously aren't getting all the nutritions they need with their strict diets. Also stress at such a young age. Yes your hair damages alot if you dye it too much but I've met people who dye their hair all the time and they have no hairloss what so ever, including myself. Also wonyoung hasnt even dyed her hair alot compared to other idols. Her hair looks pretty healthy apart from the hairline but some people are just born with that as you can see in her childhood photos. If she is suffering from hair loss its most likely bc of malnutrition & immense pressure & stress

hair loss can be due to so many reasons -(under)weight (fluctuations) - stress - medical conditions - medicine (the pill and an IUD for example can cause hair loss) - hair dye and bleach etc. There are many reasons these idols and others might suffer from hair loss. its sad but the truth and the important thing to do is to take care of yourself and your health. if you have hair issues I hope you can figure out what caused it and can heal.

i think the companies could do like some female rap artists in the us, using wigs for every different hair color. At least they could buy a wig or two per year for every idol so they could work on the wig and keep the hair healthy and natural. I think Lisa's hair is the worst of the 4, her stylists should know better. Red scalp are skin burns! They can't even cover it bec they likely melted her hair off in those parts. It must've been painful, but I guess she trusted in her stylists too much. Her hair doesn't get longer because it breaks before it grows. They need to stop with the bleaching and do more nourishing treatments. Wonyoung's may be a condition since she was young, but getting good nutrition also helps. Irene and IU hasn't been dyeing their hair very often now, i think, and that really helps hide the damage and add layers of pigment to the hair shaft(making it thicker/less brittle), apart from getting treatments. Dyeing dark hair, especially going blonde, is really very damaging. Going from the most pigmented to the least pigmented color is like stripping paint, only it is attached to a high profile, well photographed idol. I hope stylists can take better care of the idols' hair, and guide them on how to do regular maintenance if they have busy schedules. And maybe stylists can gain more experience in using wigs, maybe looking unnatural with a wig is one of the reasons they shy away from it? Jeongyeon of Twice also dyes her hair a lot. I saw a vlog during their latest tour and her hair looked very dry. She's applying some leave-on treatment for it though, so maybe that helps. She looks great no matter what color or length her hair is (and she's my bias), but I hope she lets her hair get some rest before it gets more damaged and causes breakage. Also, not yet balding, and another artist I stan, but CL showed a lot of breakage during her Lover Like Me promos. Her real hair is around chin-shoulder length, but she has a lot of extensions. One can see how little hair she has when her hair is up in a bun/s.

K-Pop stylists desperately need to learn about lacefront, 360-lace or full lace wigs and how to lay them and make them look realistic. They also don't necessarily need to be super expensive, as there are tons of high quality synthetic lace wigs where you can't even tell it's not human hair.

I dont think wonyoung's going through hair loss as if of now, she was naturally born with thin hair. Not everyone can have thick hair, her hair partition is not as wide as someone who naturally has thin hair, my partition is also that wide. this can also be the reason why she has recently started parting in the middle to hide her wide side part.

I've also experienced hair loss after dieting for 7 months. I hardly recovered, my hair is still fragile, thin, and there isn't much of it left.

I lost a lot of hair after I caught COVID. Found out that when you have a viral infection, your immune system can trigger something known as telogen (last phase of your hair where it eventually falls out) effluvium. Usually your hair is 90% in anagen (growth phase) and 10% telogen. However a "triggering event" can transition a good 50% of your hair into telogen phase. Three months now and my hair loss is finally starting to slow down. So aside from their diet and hair care routine, if they've been sick or experienced something that causes major stress on their bodies, it can cause hair loss.

I have only coloured my hair twice and that too between the gap of 6 months. I never dyed the roots only the middle and ends. Still, my hair looked dry and bushy. During the quarantine (in 2020), I cut my hair short (got rid of the ends and turned it into lob) and took care of my hair for a whole year. Took vitamin C and Iron supplements for a stronger immunity. Exercised. We, brown people, focus a lot on oiling our hair on alternate days and scalp massage. Grew my hair past my upper back. Lost so much hair due to stress, depression and typhoid in 2022. I had got a bald patch in my head. Got back into the healthy routine and ran an allergy test. Stopped consuming the things I was allergic to and improved my scalp health.

Can I also add that, at least with my hair loss which was due a lot to dryness and breakage from wearing up, the stress from worrying about my hair loss also made me stress more. People don’t realize that hair loss in women is actually really common. It’s comforting to know even the famous also struggle with it and it’s not just me

I’m currently dealing with alopecia and my hair growing back. I cut my hair off. Like super low. (Prefer it that way) and I’ve been using 3 things and my hair has been growing back. I recommend going to a dermatologist they are angels. I had so many emotional breakdowns of my hair coming out in the shower like I could make a wig with how much I lost. Trying to cover up my balding with hairstyles. That just made it worst. It’s best to start fresh cut all damaged hair off. And leave it in it’s natural state while you nourish your hair and scalp. I’ve dealt with the hair loss since 2018 and only now 2022 is I coming back strong. Women face so much pressure to always look “good” but it’s like leave us Aloooone. Shits work and takes a toll on our mental and bodies.

Lalisa's forehead is like mine. She is not balding. She just has wide forehead, hence the bangs to balances her good look. The red patches you saw probably are her hair bleached but not for too long. I mean those are the roots, and yeah when you don't put bleach too long on hair, it will bleached down from black to red. Lalisa's hair stylist did a good job with this as they didn't let the bleach too long on her hair roots so that the bleach won't damage the hair roots.

I guess these idols own (and use) scalp massagers. I saw a lot less hair loss on me when I first started using my scalp massager. It's a low-cost, simple tool; but it really works.

I’m just going to say that some of the photos used of wonyoung in this video have been proven to be photoshopped to make her look skinnier. Not to say she isn’t thin. We are all bound to loose hair to a certain extent! We should stop making it a big deal, because everyone will end up dealing with it sooner or later. Instead of seeing it as something bad, let's just realize that nothing is forever, and that we all age in different ways. There's plenty of young people who end up balding early, and out of feat they end up spending a fortune on hair transplant, pills, products, wigs, extension, and so on. There's a whole market build over what is making people miserable.
