The scary part of it is that you just don't know if the road is still there under the surface or if it's completely washed away.

The very beginning of this video shows Poorman Road--the uphill dirt path. Just behind the camera, about 100' away is another dirt road, and I lived up it. When I went to college in Boulder, it was a great place to live. Fortunately, I never saw any rain close to this bad. Seeing this video is just amazing, since when I lived there it was 1971!

Gil Mosko I'm from California. Have you found success yet? I owned a commercial door company named Patriot Doors located in San Fernando Valley but sold it in 2006 to Lawrence Doors. Life is great.

Kevin, you're too much! I had my business in Van Nuys for almost 30-years (GM Foam, Inc), then sold it in 2002. Now I live way out in the country in So Colorado, and yes, life is grand!

Wow, I was just in Boulder this summer (from Ohio) for a college visit. We stayed in the Boulder Mountain Lodge on 4 Mile Canyon. I wonder how damaged it is! Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I don't know about the bridge, maybe if it was uphill afterward. No guarantees on the road still being passable on the way back.

Hi, have you made it up as far as Salinas Junction? A friend of mine svenyonson27 posted vids on the 12th of the junction washing out and was staying up there that night. He lives on the creek up Fourmile and I haven't heard from him since before the alert of a 30' wall of water trees and cars was making it down past Emerson Gulch. Thanks

The United States Geologic Survey lists SEVEN "4 Mile Canyon Road"s. I saw the "Bolder Flood" in your video. I do not know which of the seven this road is. It would be nice if posters told viewers what they are seeing.
@isuzu14b6 жыл бұрын
Tom Oakhill This is 4 Mile Canyon Rd. at the intersection with Poorman Rd. in Boulder, CO. That should narrow down the location to within 10 or 20 feet. What are you trying to accomplish with such a high degree of accuracy?

And why would you do this, for KZfaq likes? Being able to get through did you stop to see if anyone in the area needed help, or were you just sight seeing. What the real shame is, you are needlessly putting your self in danger, possibly needing to call for help, and then not only putting those that come for you at risk, but taking them away from helping someone that didn't knowingly put themselves in danger. I know I know you got it covered, that's what everyone thinks until they don't.
@isuzu14b2 жыл бұрын
At the time, it’s where I lived. People were cut off from the area, and few people knew the extent of the damage at the time. Judge all you want, but when you live in a disaster area you’re just in it. Getting information out to others is an important part of the process. And it was fun.
@delana64632 жыл бұрын
@@isuzu14b I have been in one, respond to them, work as a first responder, if you find it fun, maybe you should look into doing the work yourself. I'm not judging you, if anything trying to educate you and others to the real cost of going in and out of areas such as that, for no reason. You should know that it can change in a split second, then it's not so fun anymore. Responders are always in short supply, I'd encourage you to apply for real.
