The Mongolians had no chance against that many archers. Ranged fighters who are at least partially shielded by foot soldiers always pump out way more damage in this game.

Fun Fact: To the Romans, the word "barbarian" just meant foreigner. Literally anyone who was not Roman was a barbarian.

That's the etymology of the Greek word, but it also meant uncivilized even in their time. To the point where Greeks and Romans didn't call eachother barbarians. Pyrrhus of Epirus famously quoted, "These don't look like barbarians to me", when he first witnessed the organized military of the Romans. Of course, most traders and wealthy people likely were familiar with Latin / Greek / Punic / Persian / Egyptian, helping dissuade the word barbarian from being used between the great powers.

Yeah, take archers and horses away from the Mongols. Brilliant. And then send them into battle against legionnaires without shields with only swords. What else could be expected from this battle? The Mongols would crush the legionnaires if they were given back their horses, bows and arrows. Literally every Mongol warrior rode a horse and shot from a bow.
