Dude Ranch DIY , I got a Kubota mx5800, with a 72” loader bucket, brush hog and snow blower. Had it already on the back meadow to carve a few trails for the neighbors horses and for us to enjoy a walk.

When you picked the three bucklings at 9:45, my thought turned to appreciating your proper ballasting.
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 3 жыл бұрын
That ballast box is great, nice and compact, although I would like to fill with concrete and create some storage for hand tools similar to “DIY My Way” did to his... Unfortunately doesn’t get much use, as of lately the chipper has mostly been attached acting as rear ballast!

Thanks! I’ve had it about 3 months now and have put just under 60 hours on it and have been loving it. I primarily bought it to use for my tree work but I end up using it for everything, and it makes even small tasks all the much easier...

I noticed your chain saw is mounted on the side of the tractor. I find that very interesting. Is that something you patented because I have never seen that before. With the grapple we have no place to keep the chain saw.
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Oh how I wish I held the patent to that...! The scabbard I’m using is actually called a “SawHaul” and they offer many different mounting options for tractors and utvs. I will add a link to the description of the video!

Would this grapple be good at raking Leafs and compost out of the forest?

It would definitely work for that application, however it would probably rake out other things as well! It is very good at getting down to bare ground!

@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 3 жыл бұрын
I ordered the wicked grapple directly from everything attachments. I believe they have quite the lead time on them now, something like 12 weeks... the bucket, pallet forks, ballast box, and third function valve I just got directly from the dealer when I bought it.

I notice a lot of videos with guys with grapples seemed to lift front of tractor off the ground a lot just wondering if that's intentional?l or just putting too much down pressure? When I run mine I don't try to put so much pressure on the grapple
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 2 жыл бұрын
I’m assuming you mean when using it as a root rake? I apply the pressure at times to try and dig roots and rocks out of the ground.

@@DudeRanchDIY no I mean when doing a simple task like just picking up brush
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think that’s unintentional and due to lack of experience! This obviously was one of my first videos ever and with the grapple so any instances of me lifting up the tractor was due to my lack of familiarity with the machine and attachment! I think if you watch some of my more recent videos featuring the grapple you will find I’ve become much more proficient at using it!!

@@DudeRanchDIY Well, your first cut on the log was textbook. @7:05 No problems there. But for some reason after that you kept doing the plunge cut @7:35 That type of cut isn’t normally used for bucking logs. There’s no need for it; plus it’s a lot of extra wear and tear on your front sprocket, and you’re more likely going to get your bar pinched in the log, as it looked like what happened. Nice video though 😅
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 3 жыл бұрын
@@bighammer587 yep did a plunge cut for two reasons, I didn’t want the piece to tear, and you can’t see it in the shot but the tips of the tree were still on the ground, various forces at play, hence the plunge cut to take some pressure off and then snap the top and bottom strap 👍🏼
