If you're starting out as a creative, it's critical that you understand: The kind of work you want to do, and the level of quality you want to pursue, may not exist in the place where you were born.
But it's easy for creatives to overcome this constraint. The ability to work remotely, freeing our employment from geographical constraints, is a superpower of creatives in the 21st century. Design is one of the most compatible jobs with remote working.
Prepare yourself for a productive time working remotely - not only getting work done, but making the most of your nomadic experience - with insights from Design Disciplin founder Mehmet Aydın Baytaş, who happens to be an experienced traveler with 100+ stamps on his passport.

Another perspective coming from an industrial design agency owner: The physical good being produced definitely can play a role in limiting mobility. That said, there are MANY verticals in ID that allow for designers to travel wherever while designing physical things. For instance, a significant portion of our workload comes in the form of exhibit and retail design. I've worked remotely all over the world while working on these projects from hotel lobbies, coffee shops, etc. Things that require shop visits, material samples, etc can absolutely put the brakes on travel plans, for sure -- but there are great exceptions to this. Really appreciate this video!

95% of my design experience is freelancing for companies overseas or my own projects. Remote work is definitely the way to go for sure!

Thank you so much for the kind words… It seems that currently, we don’t publish frequently enough to be promoted well by the algorithms, but we’re working on it actively!
