I’ve put in many windows when I worked for Toyota. You did this 100% correct. Step by step is how I would have done it. I did hear a couple pieces of glass fall after you put the window in and the plastic cover back on, also some crunching of glass when the regulator was going down. I know if a pain in the ass to get every piece of broken glass out. Those chunks of glass will rattle when the customer opens and closes the rear door. If they are anal they might complain. Overall you did a great job.

Thank you for this video - It provided all I needed to do this work. There are some extra information I'd like to add: Some 4runners have a "wale-tail" mounted on the top of the hatch. You'll need to remove that before trying to navigate the window in.Its easy to remove, just two bolts covered by some rubber gaskets. My mistake : I thought it would be easy to disconnect some wires from that device on the right hand side of the door. DO NOT disconnect those wires! After I did that, the door latch would not open and only after reconnecting everything and disconnecting the battery did the latch work again. You dont need to disconnect any wires to do this job. (except for the defroster on the window itself) The window I bought was slightly misaligned from the OEM holes on the window bracket. The plastic where the mounting holes are were slightly longer and kicked it out of alignment after seating. I took a file and gently removed some of the plastic on the end and then it fit like a glove. Dont take off too much only a fraction of a mm is all you need.

When buying a used replacement window what years are compatible with a 2008 I know the door locking mechanism are the same from 2002-2009 is it the same with the back window too?! Thanks

The fuckin 4Runner has a defect on the defroster, it explodes! Its easy cause you dont have the rear upper wing.

I'm about to put the back glass into my 2006 after the window defogger short circuited and heated the glass until it exploded

Hi, I have a 2003 Toyota Sequoia. The back glass came off track because the regulator is rusted out. The repair is almost 2,000 dollar. Is there a way just to permanently lock in place the existing glass ? I trying to reduce cost.

Good overview...you helped me get to the bottom of a problem I had repairing the window lifts that rusted out and I needed to replace the lifting mechanism ($144). However, here is some positive feedback: I did notice you seemed inattentive to the details as you did not replace the 2-3 cover snaps you lost and you left a big mess of glass in the back of the Toyota you worked on. The job is not done until you clean everything up. Also, you were complaining about how people think your glue and other things used for the job should not cost them...(who cares...charge 10% fee for incidentals). Finally sir...clean up and organize your work truck!

Satelite left all the broken glass at the bottom of my rear gate to rattle every time I open the back gate. Satelite is NO GOOD. Now my window will not go up/down.

My dad was an auto glass man for 60 years. There is no way in he** he would have ever left that broken glass inside of that car. That is no way to do business. I would never use this guy and/or company to do any work for me! If my dad could see this video he would roll over in his grave. Seems like someone is a little lazy to me. I mean he already had to vacuum out the broken glass from inside the rear hatch why not take another minute or two and get that out of the back of the car? I'm just saying.
