One of the best scenes in this cinematic highlight. You are formally placed in the role of Tommy. Fear, hopelessness and then anger again. Gary you hit the nail on the head. Of course Ritchie is a gr8 film maker but you're dead on in my opinion. Brad absolutely kills this role and the heart of his performance truly shines through by how he makes you feel just as invested in his whole group of family and friends even though they have so few lines because of his subtle genius way of making you understand there's no Mickey without the whole group. If you've ever been around travellers, and a lot of British people have, you'll know this was a stellar performance by Brad Pitt. That he's also an American makes the performance almost incomprehensibly good. I think Pitt himself said he loved the whole 'Britishness' of the set up. He loved not being given full Hollywood mobile homes and a staff of servants, felt 'normal' in a way he rarely if ever can feel and he was greatly amused by how he'd be given a cup of tea during breaks rather than being asked what 5 star food he'd like delivered by personal courier. That relaxed and appreciated atmosphere seems to come out in his performance.

@Cock McBalls - The answer to that is simple. He will never be Partick Stewart or Kenneth Branagh. So what. He knows it too. And he is OK with it. Why? Becaue of... money. And there is nothing wrong with it. All depends how much the contract is paying, and most of his roles are "easy" in this case. Just go through the motion, take a check, job done. At the end, no matter how anybody is going so spin it - all of entertainment is about money. If you want something different, go back to the roots. Do a theatre as an actor. Go for it. it is also amazing, but it is different experience than movies as such. I bet Statham is going for money. And I agree with him 100% (considering his background). Life is short.

Benicio del Toro's performance as Fenster in Usual Suspects was Pitt's inspiration for Mickey. Obviously the accents are different, but Pitt was so taken by BDT in Usual Suspects, that he wanted to pattern Mickey's cadence, and general incomprehensibility after Fenster. guy ritchie is a master. i've watched both lock stock and snatch about 50 times each, i kid you not. these films don't get boring _ever_ and pitt in snatch is just amazing. everything about it just works and flows and feels authentic. it's about time i watched it again.

I first watched this film when it was released in cinemas. I went back a second time as I was blown away, mainly because of Brads performance! What a Masterpiece Guy Ritchie made. Along with Lock Stock, these 2 movies are in my top 10 easy!!

This movie is an absolute masterpiece! The 'Lock & stock..." was a great movie, 'Rock n' rolla' was a great movie, but 'Snatch' is for me the number one. All of it, just all! Thanks for the subtitles btw.! As a non native English speaker, even after watching 'Snatch' for 38 times, I still did not have the dialogues complete. :)

The scene with Statham narrating on how Tommy should be praying..... the actor playing Tommy did a GREAT job of looking like he knew he was about to die, while the pikeys were arguing. Very subtle performance, but very effective.

Brad Pitt was brilliant in this, he is an exceptional actor when given quality roles. But Stephen Graham's face at the end was a flipping master class in using facial expressions to convey emotion. Up there with Bob Hoskins at the end of 'The Long Good Friday'. An early hint at the great actor he was destined to become. Check out 'This is England' to see just how great.

Was just thinking this! being able to show people being scared without overacting scared...i can almost feel the lump in the throat you will have in that situation based on his facial expressions and mannerisms.

Great comment. I'm glad someone else appreciates Hoskins' acting in those last couple of minutes. It's like watching the seven stages of grief playing out on his face, finally ending with acceptance. Incredible.

Honestly, WOW. What an INSANE performance this is. The accent is absolutely impeccable but also just the mannerisms, the indirect evil that’s behind everything he says, does and plans. It’s a vicious character but marvellous
