The best defence is a good offence. And the signal sources full of Scouts were really getting on my nerves, so I took it out on this guy. Didn't even know what hit him. :P
Originally I had High Capacity + Overload Munitions on the Missile Racks and could only manage around a 10 second kill, but then switched to Rapid Fire + Oversized for nearly double the DPS. The results speak for themselves.

(Coriolis won't let you choose Advanced Missile Racks, so use the engineering on the standard ones as a guide. It's the same engineering)

any chance on having a look at your build? my current build for my T10 is exploration. I took her to Semotus Beacon (first T10 there I believe) and back on DW2 and rescued about 30 "exploration" ships on the way since I had repair and refuel limpits ;) And a mall, and a swimming pool...

I haven't played Elite in years. I stopped just prior to the Thargoids resurfacing. This makes me curious again. That was brutal.

Things have improved. But this year things are supposed to get better with actual content, 3 new ships, new power play system, an end or “ending phase” of the thargoid war.

I doubt I am either of those, lol. And this was quite a long time ago when the Thargoids were arguably at their weakest so I don't know how relevant this still is. But back then... yeah... I'd seen the Cyclopes taken down relatively fast with just the Shard Cannons on an Anaconda so I was like "What if you do that with a ship that has more hardpoints than a strip club at happy hour?" and pile on the missile racks. :D

Thank you. I really don't like Gauss Cannons. And I hate the word "Meta". It stifles creativity when everyone just wants to do the same thing. Find your own way. :)

@@Boamere Mostly because they've seen videos telling them that it's the only type they can use. Usually starting with "The best..." followed by about a dozen exclamation marks. So it gets into the mindset, and becomes the... ugh... meta. Screw all that. Find your own way. Be creative. It's the biggest joy of the game. Use my builds as inspiration to make your own. :)

The thing is, Meta isn't perfection. It's people's ideas outside the game of how to cheese it at that moment in time due to game balance. Meta changes every time they re-balance something. And in Elite, that term usually means "How can I do something with the least amount of effort and skill?" I don't find that fun, honestly.

I guess material synthesis is required for ADV Missiles? How did you collect these?

Yeah, to swap to AX ammo you need materials from the Guardian sites. But they're honestly not hard to farm. Or they weren't pre-Odyssey. I don't know about now since I'm not playing at the moment. But at the time you just collected them the same way as if you were going to unlock the Guardian tech itself.

I got mine from Shinrarta Dezhra. In the Missile category. According to the wiki you can also get them in the Brestla system. From i Sola Prospect, a planetary base.

How did it die after only 1 heart down ?

The sheer amount of weapon fire did more burst damage than it could regenerate. It was honestly pure luck that even one heart got taken out. It would've died without any going down. There was just that much firepower being levelled at it. :) 4 Guardian shotguns and 5 rapid fire missile racks being pumped into it just overwhelmed it.

Did you use premium ammo for both the shards and missiles?

At the time of making this, you couldn't use premium ammo for the advanced launchers. You could only swap between normal ammo and anti-xeno ammo. So I was using AX ammo with the launchers and premium ammo on the shard cannons.

Lol I am not a guy, and yeah... back when I did this... I didn't want my ship to melt from the corrosive damage so I just got the hell out of dodge. :D
