Testimony for the Coke technique: IT WORKS! I have tried it on many types of fabric, denim, white, various colors etc! Trust Peggy, you will soften the fabric and there is no staining, stickiness or any sign whatsoever that Coke was used. And no your washing machine will not suffer in any way. It is an amazing technique.

Peggy, I loved the tips. I heard you mention some in passing before, like the Coke trick, but glad to have that tip in more detail. Please keep doing the tips. I am taking notes!

Thank you for sharing those tips. Appreciate them very much. I also made 2 of the JORJA WRAPS. One fringed, the other plain and they came out beautiful. I tried sending it on FB, but wasn't getting through so I sent a picture of the Fringed one in Messenger for you to see. I do hope you got it. I'll try to send it on FB again. Thanks again.

Wow. Never knew or heard of using coke as a softener. I think I will try it on some of my cloth napkins that aren't as soft as I would like them to be. Thanks so much!

This cracked me up! I'm constantly astonished with social media. In one case, someone asks a simple question and gets 50 answers, none of which answer their question. In another, a piece of advice on how to do something is shared, and a stream of questions [similar to the bit about washing with coca cola] follow that are so off target it's unbelievable. I tend to be blunt and straight to the point, so once in awhile I'll weigh in and give a straight, bottom line answer that can't possibly be misinterpreted. And of course feelings are hurt. Sheesh. You just want to tell them to Pay Attention!!! Thanks for these tips. :)

Peggy, thank you, thank you. That last tip on the kimono sleeve was exactly what I needed. I could clearly see why my first attempt was not exactly on the mark. Ah ha moment for me. Lol. Now I can take corrective action. YEAH u nailed it for me. Love the top you have on. Was it covered in one of these vignettes? What pattern is it?

Don't use that Sharpie on any finished garment fabric! Personally I'd limit its use to paper products. It's a good idea to transfer markings from original to duplicate, for example. Personally (IMO), I stay with traditional fabric marking methods for anything other than tests on scraps and cheap muslin. Trying to save 10 minutes in the early stages may lead to bigger regrets later in the process.

Found my answer to my previous question. New question is there any risk that the Sharpie marks will migrate when the fabric is washed? I realize that if it is the muslin it does not matter, I am thinking about the case where I am marking the final fashion fabric. Thanks.

I would not recommend using the sharpie when using the final fabric...this was just in place of tracing the tissue onto another paper.

That does it! Ha ha. Now I have to buy more of your patterns that I have to use the sharpie tip. I’d rather have muslin patterns; they are much more durable.
