At the very least, I now grasp the concept of leverage. Creating wealth and financial freedom isn't as tough as many people believe. Building wealth and remaining financially stable indefinitely is a lot easier with the appropriate information. Participating in financial programs and products is the only true approach to make a high income and remain affluent indefinitely.

Due to my demanding job, I lack the time to thoroughly assess my investments and analyze individual stocks. Consequently, for the past seven years, I have enlisted the services of a fiduciary who actively manages my portfolio to adapt to the current market conditions. This strategy has allowed me to navigate the financial landscape successfully, making informed decisions on when to buy and sell. Perhaps you should consider a similar approach.

It's a common misconception that when a stock you buy skyrockets, the smart thing to do is sell it (or at least sell some of it) to lock in your profits. But the context matters. If the stock has increased sharply because the business is performing exceptionally well, it could still be a bargain. I'm still looking for companies to make additions to my $350K portfolio, to boost performance. Here for ideas...

I had initially planned to retire at 62, work part-time, and save money, but the impact of high prices on various goods and services has significantly disrupted my retirement plan. I'm worried about whether those who experienced the 2008 financial crisis had it easier than I currently am. The volatility of the stock market is a concern as my income has decreased, and I fear that I won't be able to contribute as much as before, potentially jeopardizing my retirement savings.

The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

Wife and I just bought a new (to us) car. Finance guy at the Toyota dealership was surprised, manager was pissed, salesman was impressed when we walked out with the keys, after writing a large check and staying debt free with about 70% of our emergency fund intact after my other paid for car was totaled. That being said, we've made a lot of sacrifices to keep our heads above water, and the economy has done us few favors. Hopefully, we can get this inflation crap over with, and soon!

Stay vigilant. I was broke at age 38 and going the wrong way.. I learned that I had to put in personal spending boundaries. I got strict with a budget. I did put some free spending money in the budget so that I was less likely to quit the budgeting process. Money in excess of the required budget was spent on debt reduction and minor investing. When I became debt free at 50, I devoted the extra money to investing. I am now a baby step multi millionaire and am spending more on myself now, but I am still spending less than I make. I only regret that I didn't control my spending a little earlier in life. I will have a comfortable retirement, but will not be rich. Good luck on your journey!

A simple lifestyle can be a very happy one. I remember reading something in a book or article once about an architect or builder who built houses in a certain neighborhood. He said they all wanted front porches on the large homes he built, to relax on and enjoy, but when he drove by he never saw anyone ON the porches at all. They were living beyond their means having him build them fancy, upscale houses. He said had they had him build smaller houses and smaller front porches, they could have had leisure time to BE on the porches rather than having to work overtime and hardly be home. Had they had him build not the most lavish he could do but fitting their lives, he said they could have spent time with a lemonade on those porches. He himself lived in a smaller home without all the bells and whistles, and he did sit on his porch swing after work with his wife. I would rather have the time with my husband on our little porch than be in over our heads financially and never on a large porch.

Until one fully lives "debt free" in certain areas of our lives, it is very difficult to even think about joining that side once again of the constant comparison and wanting the latest this and that. It takes maturity and stepping back to think what is the most important at the moment and follow that for yourself. The sad truth is a lot of people are just trying day to day but do not have set goals or plans to reach what they do not even know what they want to reach.

These are very valuable info for anybody who wants to get rich. Unfortunately, most people who will watch this video will not really be able to apply the principles. We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. No surprise that some people are losing a lot of money in the bear market, while others are making hundreds of thousands in profit. I just don't know how they do it. I have about $109k now to put in the market.

Understanding personal finances and investing will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend, and invest their money. Yeah, financial advisors could make a lot of difference, particularly in a market such as this. Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look. I have been using an FA since 2019, and I return at least $121k ROI, and this does not include capital gain.

I wanted to save more for my retirement, save for my kids college, invest in a brokerage acct, etc. and there wasn’t enough to go around. If I just wanted to spend it, there would be plenty of money. It wasn’t until we made $250k+ where I felt like all of my savings buckets were good, and we had extra money for a few luxuries. And I still drive an old mini van, so not too many luxuries 😂

12 years ago, I surpassed the $30,000/year mark, and I was 30 years old. If that isn't (wasn't?) behind, I don't know what is. At the same time, I was working next to another co-worker who had a household income of OVER A HUNDRED GRAND. But they were broke all the time. They pounded down cigarettes, beer, had whisky plates on their vehicles, and took the family of 4 to Cozumel every year. They used the appreciation of their home as a piggybank and kept re-financing it and never built any equity over the course of 20 years and lost their house in the 2008-2009 housing crash. My income is now substantially better, and I have everything paid up including the house. Now I need to work on my retirement account which I am hitting pretty hard now.

@pdxmusl1510

I did some math on all these "high prices" recently. It's not as bad as people are making it out to be. What we are actually seeing is the same thing our grandparents saw when we were kids... (in an old man's voice) "back in my Day bread bread was 35 cents!". Back when bread was a buck. It's the same things if you look at costs proportionally. There's very little difference. In most ways the younger generations have it way better financially than we did. Rent is about the same. Groceries are less. Computers are less. Utilities are less. I mean I'd go on but most expenses are actually about the same or less. Rent is a little wonky but that's because we have place ms like ca that throws everything off. If you remove the highest and lowest rents you get a much fairer amount that's proportional to what it pretty much has always been. College is an area where the price has gone up way more than it should. Bit again. Kids today have way way way more options than we did for careers. I mean if I needed to know how to fix my car, I had to find the right book and it was a pain. Today I just click on a 5 minute video I looked at an hour before I do the work.

@@pdxmusl1510 I believe that your answer may be very subjective. Based on my own experience, not in a highly populated metro area like NYC or dealing with CA type inflation, I am seeing a minimum 3-5x proportional inflation of price vs when I was a kid. At the minimum, and while wages stagnate. I watch my money very carefully, and am constantly confounded when I try to earn more, but my dollar doesn't go any further than it did before I started. All the every day expenses that you have mentioned as going down, I am watching go up. Not just in my anecdotal experience, but in the inflationary data when linked to stagnated wages. There are exceptions where you can get basic versions of items, such as computers for less. On the other hand, you have cars that have tripled in value. What used to be 30k is now 45, 75, 90k.

I remember out of high school wondering how my roommate could afford to drop so much money on cigarettes each month and for some reason felt envious of that because we had the same pay. I thought she was somehow doing better because she was spending more. The reality was that she wasn’t looking down the financial road and I was. I had delayed gratification goals so I felt a sense of scarcity short-term.She ultimately struggled financially for most of her adult life before dying several months ago from complications of COPD at the age of 50. I am also 50, debt free, have a 6 month emergency fund and am saving toward retirement as well as mid range spending goals. The moral of that story, beyond “don’t smoke”, is to map out your own personal goals and focus on executing those goals rather than being influenced by the perception of what is happening around you.

Isn't that the same Linda Parker that my neighbours are talking about, she has to be a perfect expert for people to talk about her so well

I don't know. We reached a 7 figure net worth while having debt, a 6 figure income, we live in a high cost of living area in an expensive state and we are the poorest of our friends and relatives. It doesn't feel like we are doing amazing as others sometimes. I always less than everyone else around us. Like we are not on their level. We even got looked down upon by a relative once because we chose an EV (that's our business what car we want but he laughed at us and he doesn't drive a fancy car either to have the right to so).

Maybe they’re doing amazing, maybe they’re up to their eyeballs in debt. 🤷‍♀️ It’s hard to tell sometimes.

We are moving out of state. I've had $3600 a month going out the door on 2 places and the wife hasn't started her new job yet. Got ZERO extra cash flow. I don't like it one bit.
