You should see a dentist about this before you damage nerves of your teeth. I damaged my front tooth And now I am using a plastic thing at night. It is helpful but it couldn’t erase the pain. Maybe dentist offers the same thing for you to prevent pressure on your teeth at night.

@@ozlemdr6076 My dentist told me to buy a mouth guard at the store, because my insurance won't cover a fitted one. I tried the mouth guard at the store and my jaw hurt worse. I think I was chewing on it in my sleep, so the problem wasn't being resolved. My Rheumatologist prescribed me a muscle relaxer to calm my muscles down. The medication helps a lot better than that mouth guard, I just don't want to depend on a medicine my whole life, but if it's the only thing that works, I guess I'm stuck with it.

If we don't directly look at each other and talk, in the metro as example, I always look somewhere else and I don't actually know why as it is clearly not my anxiety. But I always had a habit of inspecting my surroundings more. Especially random details traw my view onto them as the color of a phone case or the scarf pattern of someone. I have no idea why ^^"

To everyone who is feeling depressed... You are not useless. Please don't let other people put you down. You are precious and loved. You have no idea how much of an impact you had by just being born. The smile on you parents face. Irreplaceable. The amount of people gathered at the hospital just to bring you to life. And the amount of love that was and will be showered to you. 😊 Think about it this way. No baby was depressed when they were born. Depression is manifested. It is a gradual growth of negativity. Positivity can be manifested in the same way. Tell me, do you want to feel positive? I'm sure that it is a yes. Then don't you have a desire to do something in your life? This positive desire is all you need to hold on to. Be brave. Be strong. Believe in your desires. Everything will be alright. You are beautiful. You have a beautiful life. ❤❤ Don't end it 🙏🙏

"waow !" -whistles and "pops" w my lips -blinking -brutal heads/arms/shoulders mouvements -hands clapping -fist punching on my chest -head hitting on a surface (behind me, a wall or a window for exemple)... -it could increase in tic attacks with those tics + legs mouvements that could impact me when i'm walking and i can sometimes experience derealisation/depersonalisation or dissociation 🐸

Also blaming or dumping on these things or breaking down over something weird or insignificant compared to what you're actually anxious or upset about. Usually when I feel anxious, I tend to bounce my leg and bite my nails (my most common habits). I also ask my friends to ask teachers the question I have because I’m too scared to talk to them infront of everyone and some of my teachers kind of scare me. I also tend to not look people on eye because once I do I can’t look away and it scares me even more. I’m just happy that I’ve found a video were other people suffering with anxiety are talking and helping each other cope. It’s nice to see people work together, especially when they all have something in common 😅

Yes, this has indeed helped. You guys are so much than I could ever ask for. The signs I show of anxiety don’t really get noticed, and I can even go as far as to say they’re being ignored by my parents. Or they’re finding excuses for me to feel stumped and then cry or find somewhere I can lock myself in to have this attack. I might show this to my coach to give her a better understanding of what goes on. Again, thank you guys 🤍

I actually developed a couple of BFRB growing up. I started biting my cheeks and nails/cuticles in elementary. In middle school I began picking my skin, but after some bullying and learning about moisturizers and exfoliation, that went away. In my adolescence I developed something called Trichotillomania. I've struggled with this for over a decade now and am finally learning these impulses weren't part of my personality, they were treatable symptoms with underlying causes.

I've thankfully never developed a habit of biting my lip or nails. I've always had dandruff, despite constantly using conditioners/hair treatments and thoroughly scrubbing my scalp. Whenever I am anxious, I will scratch away at the dandruff on my scalp. I feel extremely embarrassed by doing so. If my hands aren't preoccupied with a task, then I can't stop. Sometimes it gets so bad that my hand gets carpal tunnel from the repetitive scratching. Fidget toys have been a game changer to help me control this bad habit of mine.

Yeah I bite my lips and the inside of my cheek a lot & they bleed a lot, so I constantly have a hurting mouth and parts to heal. I also got Trichotillomania (Hair Pulling Disorder) and I pull hair out from my scalp. It’s a habit, I no longer do it when I’m anxious anymore. Now it happens no matter how I feel. Took me around a year or two of doing it for me to realise “oh, my hair isn’t falling out, I’m pulling my hair out instead!” So I talked to a professional about that stuff. Stay safe and healthy everyone. You’re loved.

There was a time when I was walking down the street from the store (for context) I was about 6'2 and 140 pounds (I was 12.5 leave me alone) and this group of short dudes comes up to me and asks if I wanted any coke (cocaine for those who don't know) and I said I'd be fine with it if it were the drink, not the drug. We all laugh then the tallest of the dudes maybe 5'5 or 5'6 says "listen kid we ain't playing around with you, do you want some or not?" Then I knew that I screwed up. I reached for the taser in my backpack and switchblade in my pocket and he grabbed my wrist. Remember when I said that they were short. Yes they were but he had one hell of a grip. Even still, I overpowered him and his friends tried to rush to stop me but I picked the guy up by the collar and threw him at his goons like a bowling ball and then, a cop pulled up next to me as I pulled my blade. I explained to him what happened and the guys were arrested. I never went out at night again

I copy peoples personalities, behaviours, they way they talk (my Australian accent has changed to a slight British accent because of my anxiety), to make other people feel comfortable around me. I used to get sick every morning like clockwork and was nauseous half the day. For years I was told by my doctors it was acid reflux and to take zofran and over the counter acid reducers. Ended up seeing a new doctor when one retired. The first appointment she diagnosed me with severe anxiety disorder and gave me klonopin. I have been almost 100% nausea and sick free since.

since the pandemic, my schools gone back to in person and we don't do zoom for even quarantined students. i've noticed that most of my classmates move their legs really fast. i, myself move my leg side to side, and it's always made me think about how similar mentally all of us teens are, yet how different our minds can be. never thought it could be because of anxiety..

Very interesting! I actually went to school to study counseling and became a school counselor. I grew up in a domestic violent home and never knew until I became an adult that my lip picking was an anxiety issue. The good thing is I stopped doing it maybe 5 years ago. My anxiety has subsided quite a lot over the years, with the exception of giving presentations. I use to pick my lips to the point of blood and scabs that would form! It would hurt so much and I never knew why I kept doing it. It’s nice to have those feelings/experiences validated. This was great 👍🏽 ☺️

I always avoid eye contact when I’m talking to my classmates because all these anxiety is building up inside me and I just feel that I’m not good enough to be anyone’s friend. That makes it so much more difficult for me to socialise and make friends and it’s causing me to have mild depression when I don’t have a lot of friends at school and I don’t really do well in academics.

Just “act” confident until you find it and it comes naturally. Smile and make eye contact with people as a first step. Then think of small ways to converse with people- pay a small compliment… “I like your shirt” for example. Practice small steps until those get easier. Then you can progress. It is very hard for people with social anxiety. It makes anxiety worse to allow it to control you however. You have to put yourself out of your comfort zone and fake it till you make it kind of deal. Also, remember that the real world isn’t much like a school setting. Once you are out in the world it’s just people are people and it’s a big world out there. You’ll find your fit. Hang in there. I am an introvert and consider myself socially awkward, but I’ve learned to find the humor and self-acceptance and just remember that we are all just people and nobody is perfect.

@@kksimmer4649 Honestly! Like I have anxiety, mild depression (3 years ago it was much more severe), as well as being diagnosed as ADD when I was 8. My mom would call me lazy (Because I barely got out of bed, would overeat, was gaining weight, I didn't have the best hygiene and quite honestly just didn't care. That's why I feel like Adults should be educated on these things because it was much more than that. Some articles claim that phones are the problem and... maybe, but that isn't the reason for everyone. It wasn't in my case. When I told my mom I had depression, she said "Why are you depressed? What do you have to be depressed about? You have two parents, your siblings, and a happy life. A better life than I did at your age", like that stuff will make a teen feel self-conscious, like they are invalid and NO parent should say that to their child. After that she never mentioned it again. She claims she has anxiety when it's just stress from work, sure it could be minor anxiety, but if she always makes her child feel like their invalid, how should I believe she knows what it's like to go through mental disorders.

The eye contact one is so relatable. I always feel like I'm looking at people too long or not enough. Also, I've been picking at my lips every day, for several years now. My parents keep telling me to stop and I swear I try to keep them moisturized all day to minimize the damage, but I still end up doing it when I least realize it. They're always red, bleeding, and sore & when I can finally heal them, I still find a way to mess with them...

For over ten years now, I’ve been going to work an hour early to avoid the anxiety of possibly being late, even the very early morning shifts, despite only having a ten minute drive to work. I lose sleep because of it. Before I go to bed as well, I check my alarm at least three times to make sure it is set, that it’s set on AM and not PM, and that the volume on my phone is all the way up. Even after checking so many times, I have to tell myself that my alarm IS set and I’ll wake up on time. I’m slowly but surely working on leaving a little later, to tell myself I’ll be okay and that I will be on time. With my alarm, I’m at the point now where I’m checking it less, but I have to stare at it and let it click in my head that it is on. With my relationship anxiety, I tend to keep my problems to myself to avoid possibly bothering my partner, even though we’ve known each other for a very long time, but have been dating over a year now. It’s becoming more of a problem though because he wants me to open up and talk to him. I understand it’s because of being told in the past that my problems are no big deal and that I just need to keep it to myself. It’s not fair to him, and I know that, but changing lifelong behaviors is no easy task, no matter how easy it sounds. I want to go to therapy and I want to try medications, but I do worry about the cost. I feel like I have way too much on my plate to pay for anything else, even if it involves my mental health. If anyone has any resources they would like to share with me that are less costly, I would greatly appreciate it.

Yes! My mom thinks anxiety is just "stress", while it's included. It's not anxiety if you have a work overload or simple tasks you forget to do, that can be built up to anxiety, but it's way more complex. Depending on how bad, a person can have a panic attack from just thinking of an unpleasant memory or get literal stomach pains from being with a group of people. That isn't just stress and should quite honestly be taken more seriously.

A few of the things that I do when I'm anxious: - Chew my lips/nails - Crack my knuckles/neck - Bounce my leg - Shake my arms by my sides - Blink repeatedly in patterns - Mouth whatever I'm thinking without saying it out loud (this has become more common after using masks though) - I act as though I'm chewing something even if I'm not The list goes on, but these are the ones that I find myself doing regularly. I have no idea if they're normal or not, or even if it's completely unrelated lol.

Before treatment, I had to find the exits in each room or store I entered before doing anything else; I ground my teeth at night so badly many had to be replaced; and I couldn't look anyone in the eye because I believed they would see my vulnerability, I wore bangs to hide the perspiration on my forehead; and WORST OF ALL if sitting around a conference table I would keep my hands below and dig my fingernails into my hand or wrist (sometimes drawing a small amount of blood) in an effort to have pain distract my mind from worry....all the while showing no expression. It is awful having PTSD, Social Anxiety, and depression all at the same time. The meds only blunt the feelings, they don't eradicate them. It's the CBT I credit for starting anew.
