No matter if you've just got FIFA, or if you’ve had it since day one, there's nothing better than a nice long term FIFA Career Mode save. I've found 4 of my favourite teams that you should give a go on FIFA 23!
Sheffield United do have potential to be a super fun long term save. As Championship managers arent in the game, one fun starting point could be retiring the Blades l Sharp
Looking at their squad, Fleck, Norwood & Berge are potentially a Premier League worthy trio in Midfield. Anel Ahmedhodžić has potential to be one of best CB’s in the world, so theres huge potential for the Yorkshire club.
Something that I find super interesting is that Sheffield United have the best record of producing national team players in the country. The same amount of players in the England squad have come from their academy, as the Man Utd, Arsenal and Spurs academies combined.
Even better, because of their spell in the top division, Sheff Utd have a real stadium and a bunch of real player faces in game!
Keep pumping money into the Yorkshire academy, see if you can bring the steel city back to the top! Returning to the Premier League is just the beginning, see if you can give United their first ever European experience by qualifying in the League.
You might be wondering why i’d recommend a fairly average team from a tiny town in the Allsvenskan. Its simply the fact that there are 2 fun ways of playing with Varberg, you can go foreign player rebuild or you can go free agents only. Both are realistic, as IRL Varberg does a combination of the two.
Teams is based on the West Coast of Sweden, but the biggest nearby cities are in Norway and Denmark. You can rebuild your club using very cheap foreign talents from Scandinavia, but they love to sign South Africans talents as well.
They’ve had some really good young talents in recent years (for exampleTashreeq Matthews and Luke Le Roux). Both are South African and both had huge potential while playing for Varberg. Filling your academy with players from Sweden, Norway, Denmark and South Africa can give you a fun twist while playing in a tiny nation, even if they're only a hopping off point for a more impressive team.
If you’d prefer more of a challenge, Varberg are also good for a free agent only save. If you’d prefer to keep things fully Swedish, you could even go for only Swedish free-agents and see how far you can progress.
Varberg is definitely a really fun way of starting a long career, maybe you could then replicate Graham Potter by heading to the UK and only beginning your career with this tiny Swedish team.
Lodz were promoted last season, and in real life find themselves in 3rd after 16 games. This isn't a random bit of success, Lodz have won Ekstraklasa 4 times, most recently in 1997.
As with all Polish teams, derby matches are one of the most fun parts of the club. Lodz contest the Derby of Poland with Legia Warsaw thanks to the consistent title battles in the 80’s and 90’s. This is even better in game as Legia Warsaw have been the dominant force in Polish football in recent years. While rivals Legia have won five of the last seven league titles, Lodz have spent 8 years in the second division.
Last year a poor start for Legia Warsaw opened the door for a changing of the guard, and it looks like Lodz could be one of the teams to take advantage.
The long term goal of the save is to develop the promoted team, try to overtake your rivals, and eventually battle for titles as they are doing in real life. If you can do this in a single season then great, but this is a team you can spend years building up to be the very best in Poland and to challenge in Europe, as teams in similar leagues like Young Boys have done recently.
Technically based in Africa, the Spanish side Tenerife plays in the second division.
Their location allows you to do some fun Africa related things, see if you can bring through a generation of Moroccans and manage their new FIFA 23 national team.
See if you can find a bunch of players who were born in the islands off Africa, (one of them is Cristiano Ronaldo!) or maybe do a combination of the two, by filling your academy with young african and spanish talent!
The island has produced some really good players in the past, former Barcelona winger Pedro & Leicester City winger Ayzoe Perez both were born in Tenerife, with David Silva & Jese Rodriguez coming from nearby island Gran Canaria.
Gran Canaria is home to rival team Las Palmas, so overcoming your island neighbours should always be your first goal.
