Way 1: Recover files from a Recycle Bin
1. Open "Recycle Bin" by double-clicking on its icon on the Desktop.
2. Locate and then select whichever file(s) or folder(s) you need to restore.
3. Right-click or double-click on the selection and choose "Restore".
4. The Recycle Bin will then restore the deleted files to their original locations.
Can’t find your desired files? Don’t worry - you still have a good chance to restore deleted files.
Way 2: Windows backup
To restore a file from a backup, make sure the media or drive that your backup is saved on is available, and then follow these steps:
1. Open Backup and Restore by selecting the Start button , selecting Control Panel, selecting System and Maintenance, and then selecting Backup and Restore.
2. Select Restore my files, and then follow the steps in the wizard.
Way 3: Restoring from previous versions
1. Open the folder that used to contain the deleted file and click the "History" button.
2. File History will display all the files contained in the most recent backup of that folder.
3. Click the "Previous" button to locate and select the file you want to retrieve, then click the "Restore" button to get it back.
Native Windows tools can help recover your data from a Recycle Bin, however it’s very rarely proven effective. Data recovery software, on the other hand, can restore files that are still physically present on the disk even if they were deleted logically.
Way 4: Data Recovery Software
I recommend using Disk Drill software. Disk Drill for Windows allows you to recover 500 MB of data for free, which is more than enough for countless Word documents, over 50 songs, or a bunch of photos.
Follow these steps to recover deleted files after emptying the Recycle Bin:
Step 1. Download and install Disk Drill for Windows.
Step 2. Launch the program.
Step 3. Select the disk that contains the Recycle Bin from the list presented by Disk Drill.
Step 4. Click the Search for lost data button. This initiates the application’s advanced scanning algorithms which will search for recoverable files.
Step 5. Preview files that you need to recover
Step 6. Select the files you wish to unerase as well as a new storage location where they will be saved.

Firstly it should be made MUCH MORE clear that you cant get jack with this software unless you pay for PRO which is fine once you know. But I am pro now and i ran the recovery via LOST and it found gigs of absolute rubbish ive never seen before. Real weird stuff. The 100 videos I accidentally deleted were sadly no where to be seen. I acted within 30 mins and didnt restart the pc and or touch the drive but no luck. The scan took over 30 mins to do but found nothing in the recycle bin. And of the 4179 videos it found none were anything to do with what I lost. But there was so much stuff id never deleted. The only variable is those videos were deleted from another drive outside of the main drive. But they still go to the same bin. So I have no idea and feel that PRO was not worth the price if it cant find even one file. Unless I am doing something wrong but as I followed the sites guides im not sure what that would be....:(

Hello, sorry to hear about that. Generally, folders and files in "cloud" storage are not recoverable. The whole idea of a cloud is that the file is stored not on your local computer, but on a remote server. It's not possible to recover a file that was neither downloaded nor utilized on your computer directly. This is also true for iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, and other cloud storage platforms.

I accidentally deleted my mods folder when I was clearing out my chache files in the Sims 3, and I almost had a breakdown(it took me so much serfing on the internet to find them, and it was over a gb), but thank you and this video for saving my LIFE!!! Great video. My question is how to access the recycle bin of an external hardrive. To add more space to my external hardrive, I deleted unwanted and duplicate files and they went to my desktop recycle bin and deleted there but it did not clear or free up space on my ext. hatdrive. Most of these hard drives have an binternal hidden recycle bin . I need to access that. How do I? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks.

hey I have a question, yesterday I accidentally deleted many mp4 files (overall around 10-15gb) and I want them back. I tried everything already, many different recovery programs but my mp4 files couldn´t be found, but files from 2 years ago got found - how is this possible? I only installed like 100mb (recovery programs) since I deleted my mp4 files, so there´s no way that all around 60 files with many gb´s are already overwritten right? what can I do? i have a question. I wanted to open a folder with screenshots but it says somethinglike "it's not available, check if the right data device is connected" I tried to find them in the picture section but I can't find them, I don't know what to do, where or what to search

welp i tried all 4 and none of em contained the files cuz when i deleted it it's said that i deleted from the whole drive and i don't think there is a way to get the files back if anyone can help me plz put yr answer in the comment

You can scan your drive with Disk Drill to see what can be recovered from it.

Hi there! Sorry to hear about that. The only way to verify your files recoverability is to download Disk Drill Basic, run the scan, and preview the file(s) in question. If you managed to preview the file you needed to recover in a basic version, please email us at help@cleverfiles.com for further assistance. No preview just means that the file might be damaged or corrupt, it can be recovered, but it might need to be repaired.

when I downloaded the Disk Drill in order to recover a document....I found that document but I cannot open it after recovering it.. it shows that message ( the item that this shortcut refers to has been changed or removed, so this shortcut will no longer work properly) how can I fix that??

You can select which items to recover, however, before that you need to scan the whole drive.
