Commands:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset all
netsh winhttp reset proxy

My windows 10 desktop shows only 130mb when I do the speed test. I have 1gb coming into the house and my cable tech verified 1gb from the ethernet cable that's plugged into the PC. What should I do?? Thanks

Very thorough Brian.. Nothing worse than doing work and online research to finalise a report with a deadline when you realise the WiFi is dead / not working. There is very little working help online. Excellent video Brian. Thanks a stack.

An extremely useful upload!! I would also like to add: unplugging the router from the wall for a few minutes. In many cases this fixed the problem. I consider this a software fix as all it does is reseting the cache of the router.

If I do the basic network reset will I have to reinstall the LAN network thing for my Asus motherboard or will that not be affected at all since it’s technically not a windows 11 network setting?

Back in the Windows XP days, I used to run TCP/IP tuning software in order to improve the efficiency of the TCP/IP stack. However, to my general understanding, the TCP/IP stack in Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 has generally been tuned by Microsoft to be optimal for most broadband connections. Regardless, I would be interested in others' opinions on this and if you do make modifications to some of Windows TCP/IP settings, what changes do you make and why?

Thanks for the info. I have Windows 11 and since April I have not been able to use Edge message is: Hmmm… can't reach this page The connection was reset. Windows update still works, and Google Chrome and Firefox also work fine.

My computers use a fixed IP based on their MAC address, not DHCP. Does this mean that running ipconfig release/renew will not do anything? It’s been a long time since I have had a network issue but it’s good to be reminded of techniques you can use for troubleshooting should the need arise.

Brian! have you made any web site changes recently? Because its not letting me access it. I get the below messages when I click your link. Website blocked due to suspicious content Website Blocked: 'You site name/address' Browser Guard blocked this page because it may contain malicious activity. NEVER! had that pop up on you site in years of accessing it, that's a first! 🙁

This is my second reply to you as it seems that my first reply did not post. I recommend disabling the Browser Guard extension in your Web browser and then trying to visit his site again.

@@Eternal_Tech I appreciate your recommendation. I think its the script, it's warning me about as, when I click his site direct no issues at all, but when I use the link that sends me to the script. I get the warning! I trust Brian! so I think its just the guard being fussy about the script tbh. Thanks again for the recommendation 👍

While several of these entries require a restart to finish them, the "ipconfig /flushdns" does NOT require a restart. Also, if you do a restart, you do NOT need to run "ipconfig /flushdns", since the DNS Cache will be flushed automatically during the restart. The cache is held in RAM, which is volatile and the data there won't survive the restart.
