"4-Wheel Uptime" from International Harvester

Back in 1977 International Harvester wanted to drive customers to make use of its "UPtime" service, a program where you could bring your tractor in before the busy season and company techs would make sure the machine was in good shape. This was so important for farmers because a broken tractor at the start of harvest meant big losses.
The 4586 and 4386 tractors featured in this film were actually built by the Steiger Tractor Company, at their Fargo plant. The machines were given the IH badge and immediately these powerful 4-wheelers were a hit, leading into a scramble by other manufacturers to create machines that could compete. In 1986, nine years after this film was created, International Harvester would end up buying Steiger!

we had a 4786 that v8 would pull anything. The motor just wasn't reliable enough.

We looked at a 4386 but went with a John Deere 7520 , it was $10000 cheaper .

Octane Press, Did IH buy into Steiger around 1974? I think it was around 30% of the company. Cool video.

Yes they did invest in Steiger. That deal was put together in 1971 I believe, and was part of the Steiger-IH partnership that launched with the 4166 which was built and designed by Steiger with an IH engine and transmission (and a few more IH bits). Steiger built their current factory with the influx of IH cash, and opened that in 1976. Ironically, IH sold their Steiger shares to Deutz in the early 1980s, a few years before Tenneco bought Steiger and merged it back with IH.
