Күн бұрын

Our ice fishing trip for crappies turned into a scary situation real quickly after breaking through the ice with our 4 wheeler on the way back to the landing. Always be mindful of ice safety and how quickly ice conditions can change! Our outlook will be forever changed. Hope you guys enjoy the video! We're always looking forward to hearing from you guys in the comments. Don't forget to subscribe! Thanks for watching!

I’m guilty of not always being ready for the worst case scenario when ice fishing, but this is a great reminder and lesson for the rest of us. Glad you guys are all safe!

Thank goodness you're ok. This is a very important video to show. I'm in southern Michigan and everyone is itching to get on the ice. If in doubt wait it out

I'm glad you guys are all ok! Had to be a scary moment. One thing that I would like to see you all wear are the ice picks around your neck. Some of the jackets have the rings sewn into them so you wrap them around your neck and place the tips through those holes. Or you have them wrapped around your neck and hook them together. Either way you can easily grab them to help you get out of the water. You guys have a great following and a lot of people will take your lead. Again, I am so glad no one was hurt. Take care guys and can't wait for the next video.

Definitely agree Debbie. I've worn the ice picks for the last few years as they came with my Frabill I3 jacket. I never want to be without them for this reason. Thanks for the comment and watching! Much appreciated. - Ross

That brought back memories of an experience I had years ago while hunting alone and breaking through a beaver dam. Glad you guys are alright as hypothermia happens extremely quickly in winter water, your eyes tell the story better than your words. The fishing video is great but the breakthrough portion is a powerful learning tool for all of us hard water junkies, thanks for sharing it I for one personally thank you.

Good everyone is ok. I was out there that same day and there was just over 12" of ice 1/8 mile south of there. It's crazy how much thickness can vary... One of my favorite muskie lakes

Yeah its crazy how much ice thickness can vary. The whole day we were seeing 10-12 inches of solid black ice out there like you noted...except that spot we crossed when leaving the lake. Hope you had a good day of fishing while you were out there! Thanks for the comment and watching!

Awesome that you gave credit to our CREATOR. Always surprised that bad spots aren't marked better or in many cases at all by locals. A guy told me on a local lake they are always out pulling people out of a powerful spring that stays open when the rest of the lake is 3 ft thick. Why not mark it???

You should try a loop knot for horizontal jigs. Especially with plastics. Get a ton more action out of your jig and plastic.
