Mihaly was only in the ALF costume for a few seconds in the first episodes when it was needed to see ALF in full figure. Later there was no need for that and rest of the time Paul Fusco himself was inside his famous muppet. At least two of his arms were.

It wasn't Van Damme. He is too short for the role. That's why they used Peter Kevin Hall. Because of his height. He was a basketball player and he was 2,20m tall.
