Todays project will be to finish up the power supply for my garden railroad. First I need to hang a fuse box and a additional electrical box which will house the power supply. Between those two boxes I am installing wire casing. Additionally I am putting up two lights, two plugs and a new light switch. The only thing left to do is wiring all that stuff but unfortunately the electrician got sick and wasn´t able to show up ... so I guess you have to take what I got at this point...

It's quite nice of her to help you out with this! Shame the electrician got sick and could not make it there yet.

It will get done eventually. For now I will focus on a different task, hoping that the electrician shows up soon.

I am eager to see how you solve the issue of multiple track feeders! I love your electrical system, and I think I'm going to mimic this sort of system for my upcoming layout. I have an idea for how I am going to add multiple feeders with circuit breakers to my system, but your solutions will be helpful to see, I'm sure. Thank you for these excellent videos!

Hey! Good to see that my electrcal video is helpful to you. Every step of the electrical will be shown in one of my videos, it just takes some time since I am planning and building beside my dayjob. Stay tuned, I appreciate you watching!

What so you watch on KZfaq? A German putting up electrical boxes and conduits in his garage. And I enjoy it! 😂

I love it 😂 As long as you enjoyed it, everything is good. It seems far away from garden railroading but without power nothing will move... the next video will be more garden railroad related.

Moin moin!

This is excellent! This is one of the first videos I've ever seen where someone actually shows us how to put the wiring together. Usually they just say they wired it, or we see a note from the company that shows the connections but not how to make them, it's just a schematic. Here you show us the materials, installation, layout and components! And of course, with German efficiency, the pieces are well designed and made, easy to assemble and access, and look neat and tidy. This is what I've always wanted to see as I plan my own power and control boxes for wiring my layout. I look forward to the next steps. Do you have a background in trades or engineering? You know exactly what you're doing with all this. ;-) How handy that your helper is the perfect height so you can have a clear view of what you are doing when working together! Great, and nice of her to help. Looking forward to the next videos, eagerly. Are you using Massoth, Zimo or a different system for power and control? Thanks again!

Thank´s for your comment! This is just the beginning of a big electrical project which I will show in several different videos spread across the year as I´m making progress. I am using the Massoth DIMAX system to control the trains but I will use a different, yet to be determined digital system for control of signals and switches. I do have a background in trades and a lot of friends that know more than me, so I can ask :) The choice of a good size helper is key for success! 😂 Have a good day, see you in the next one!

40 Amps total. That is power! The time you take to do it clean now will save you time later. Large electric cabinets is wise. You always add stuff ;-) I hope the electrician gets better soon. Maybe he caught the train virus and will need to play garden railroading to get better ;-)

Do it right the first time! That´s exactly what keeps me motivated spending so much time and money for electrical stuff. Several years ago on a different layout I skimped on that part ... it keeps me busy up to this date

I’m very new to your channel , within the last month or so but I really have enjoyed it. The evolution of new and extended track, ballasting and yard work involved was incredible. I loved watching the electrical side of things as it is something I too would do and can’t wait to see the rest of the install. I’ve really enjoyed the videos and look forward to more.

I have been watching your videos of the garden railroad construction. I am new to this and just staring my outdoor layout and your videos are my inspiration. Are you using these to power the Massoth DIMAX system rather than the switching power supply that is often sold with the Central Station? Will you be adding video to provide mor detail? Thanks.
@summitrailway
@summitrailway 5 ай бұрын
Hi, I am proud to be you inspiraton! You are right, I am using those power supplys to power the Massoth system and a booster unit which will be added later on. Ther is absolutely nothing wrong to use the switching power supply which is sold by massoth, more so it is recommended! There are two reasons why I use a different method ... 1. I want my power supply neatly tucked away rather than a big mess of extension cord, switching power supplys and feed wiring. My approach will be very tidy when its done. 2. Instead of using several different power supplys I wanted a central solution which is powering the whole layout. I need a lot of power for the digital central station, a booster unit, switch motors, lights, signals and so on ... this is a all in one solution. There will be many more videos of the whole electrical installation on my layout. So it might be worth it to stick around!
