I get it that it’s annoying that signs and ladders are spaced out, but what about blocks? They don’t fall expect if it’s gravel or sand. A lot of things don’t make sense in Minecraft

I realized recently that ladders and rails have the same texture, just with different colours.

Those white lines are when a process of something called "Stitching" happens. When you apply a texture on the same size of a generated blender item and you dont properly align them, you can find those white lines in the item!
