Everyone knows that given how they're measured. The NFL freely admits it's an approximation.

the way the combine measures the 40 is anything but accurate. They use hand timing to start the stopwatch and laser timing once they cross the finish line, but even that isn't exact for a number of reasons. International sprinting competition uses exact laser timing and high speed cameras from start to finish and has made this mandatory since the 70s. If the combine used this standardized system called F.A.T. (Fully Automatic Time), everyone's 40 time would be 0.1--0.2 tenths of a second slower at least. The fastest man in the world for the 60m and 100m dashes currently, Christian Coleman, ran a 40 yard dash using official FAT timing and he recorded 4.15. That should make it more obvious that the combine's timing is wildly inaccurate and that John Ross or any of these players for that matter, don't actually run the incredible times the NFL combine purports.

I don't think this changed anything really. If he is fast, the scouts saw it on film. The combine is just here to create some hype for the draft and to double check what analysts saw on film

I didn't think I wanted him at 9 before this last week, now I'm sure he'll be gone. I don't see how he makes it past San Francisco, the Jets and Oakland and 2,3 and 4. The farthest I see him dropping is Jacksonville at 7 unless his neck is really suspect.

It's impossible to be 100% accurate everytime. But you can see that the laser time was in a curate through the Laser can, which is ALSO used by the NFL. So, they are correcting their own mistakes.

If you really pay attention they commentators always say unofficial time they dont have the real 40 times until after they finish there 2nd run

The only reason why the NFL doesn't switch to FAT is because the next year's 40 times would all be .1-.2 tenths of a second slower. Ross doesn't actually run a 4.22, nor does Metcalf run a 4.33 and so on.

It isn't hate. His on the field production doesn't match his raw talent and work ethic. Guys like Megatron dominated his last year in college and the combine workouts. If a player has a great workout without the on field production, it is natural to be skeptical. Especially if they are going to get paid millions.
