In this video, we restore this pair of vintage Red Wing work boots. The owner gave them to his son (who's in his fifties), and his son wants to give them a completely new look. This pair of Red Wing boots goes from being worn and tired looking to clean and fresh with a new look.

That is a model 204. (Replaced by model 202 in the late 90s.) It had a “Supersole”. The I t’s a blown urethane and Red Wind 100% can resole them at the factory. The sole has a resoled by putting it back onto the same injection molding machine that soled them t originally. The key is to catch it and have the resole done before the hook welt is eaten into too far. You do great work. And this is a great example. Just chiming in based on having actually worked for red wing and had several such boots personally resoled.

Thanks for letting us know. These just look like the same construction as several in the WORX line. I'm was just reading on their site, they don't recraft WORX or Irish Setters.

@@TrentonHeathYes, no Worx, but I usually get 3 supersoles, before the uppers give up.

@@tanthony3895 okay. 11 years managing a company owned store and having literally hundreds sent back through the factory and resoled was all my imagination. They don’t do leather work but the soles are done every day.

BEAUTIFUL JOB GENTLEMEN! Didn’t expect the uppers to restore so well! All in all you’ve modernized an antique for him and may they last another 40 years? Sharper because of those snappy RED stitches, the dye job resulted in an incredibly deep Burgundy.❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😮😮😮🎉🎉😂❤❤😊😊

I used to manage a Red Wing store and can tell you that Red Wing will resole any of the Super Sole/2.0 line with the direct attach to welt construction. They have a bit longer of a turn around time than traditional soles, though. All our local cobblers hated the direct attach because of the gumming issue.
@TrentonHeath

Yeah, we were mainly talking about many of the waterproof work boots by Red Wing. People email us about them all the time saying that Red Wing won’t resole them and asking if we will. Those are the ones we won’t do.

I now understand how much work goes into re-soling these boots but WOW did they turn out nice with the white soles and the red stitching! And the owner gets to keep and wear his old man's boots for another 20 years. Awesome!

Have this exact pair! Have a pair from 1990's and a newer 202 model pair from 2016. This is their supersole line and red wing will resole them with another supersole for about $130. Awesome what y'all did with these ones!

Thank you for this video. I own a pair of Redwing work boots with a similar sole construction. I wear them almost daily and the uppers are very stout but the soles have worn out. I struggle with throwing them out with such good leather uppers but see that is probably the only option for me. Thank you again, I enjoy your channel and seeing two brothers with such a great relationship.

Hi guys, I really enjoy watching your videos. Even though I can skip and see how it looked like in the end but I always make it a point to somehow watch how you do it step by step. It is so fulfilling to see how much work and dedication you put into your craft. By the way I'm from the Philippines and wearing boots is a luxury here. I have a pair from Mexico. Original cowboy boots. A gift from my brother who worked there. I rarely wear them for lack of occassions😂. You don't wear them daily. Wore them during my sons College graduation and Christmas parties. Been planning to bring it to local shops here for check up and maintenance. Thanks for your time reading my long comment. More power to your channel guys👍👍👍

I had RedWing resole my 15+ year old 406's less than a year ago and that is one of the heat bonded soles they came out great and only cost me $125. I dropped them off at the Nashville store (Rivergate) and they called me just under a month later to pick them up. My only complaint was they updated the sole to the supersole2.0 because the original was no longer available and the new seems a little less aggressive.
