My dad was a diesel mechanic his whole life and he has a collection similar to this. He pretty much gave his paycheck to the Snap On / Mac / Matco guys and we barely had enough money for food, clothes, and we even got to skip a Christmas because he had to make his payments. Our vehicles always had something wrong with them because didn't have time to fix them being he had to work overtime to make his payments. His plan was to sell the tools off and use that money to live on. Now he is 75 yrs old and can barely walk from being on cement , beginning stages of vascular parkinsonism/dementia and I get to deal with his fine investment because he didn't want to sell anything. Seriously considering cutting those tools up with a torch for satisfaction!

Don't be bitter at him, brother. His intentions were good. He wanted to pass something onto you that you could either use or sell to get what you desired in life. You ate and had a roof over your head even if it wasn't optimal. My father was never there and when I tried having a relationship with him when older he tried to sabotage everything good in my life out of envy.

It is selfish of myself to think that way, but hearing " I just give him $150 a week" and the tools keep coming in along with the debt that is behind it just is a stuck record playing in my head from growing up. Maybe this guy is pulling a $100K plus for an income and can balance the tool debt and provide a good family relationship. As long as the tools increase your pay and you make more money to invest for retirement it is all good. Anyone thinking these tools are an investment financially belong with the crowd the invests in pull tabs and lottery tickets. Being my dad wasn't home much, I used the tools at home to try and fix my bike and things and to this day I still hear about that 7/16" wrench that I didn't put back in the correct drawer and supposedly was lost. I started working for farmers in the area when I was 11 so I had money to buy my own school clothes and pay for the athletic fees, field trips, and other things if I wanted to do. Taught myself hard lessons that paid off but to this day there is not much of a soft spot in my heart for my parents being I am in the process of juggling their small assests to get them into a care center on MA.

Snap On sells what they do through their loan program and dealer network. I paid premium prices for a lot of the tools and equipment I bought over the years because of that program. And I too put my Snap On dealer's kids through college. My wife and I had an agreement when we got married. We never talked about the tool bill. I will admit that at some point she would come out to the truck after a few minutes and drag me off the tool truck. All these years later she is still tolerant of my tool addiction. ;)

I worked in Canada and Australia as a truck/heavy equipment mechanic..The guys who bought snap on in Canada thought they were the dogs bollocks..but generally useless do to the God awful apprenticeship system they have there.Moved to Australia and the mechanics used leather bags to carry their tools around very few boxes back then but they could fix anything with so little and so fast.Myself I bought a large snap on box in Canada for only 1000 CD. in 1997 when I got to oz people thought I was a millionaire poor sods would pay 6 times the price if they wanted one,,Had that box for 20 years still serves me well..great tools but insane prices.

The wobble plus sucks I bought them years ago and they work good for straight extensions but with the wobble part whenever you have a little pressure on them the socket pushes down and lock into the straight part and now you have no wobble. Pain in the ass in tighter areas way better just having straights and wobbles separate.

How you spend your money is no one elses business Do not worry about how others see you If you can afford something, thats not your problem, that others cannot. Good for you, if you like a brand and you like there tools. Most of us cannot afford such things, but i personally love to see people make video like this showing whats possible for people who can afford it Fair play to you, do not be embarrassed, just remember lots admire that people like you can do this, and you may inspire others to also get to where you got. If you can afford such things, and its your money and you can buy it, and its harming no one else, why do people think its a problem. I say fair play to you and such people. I admire that you could do this, and you making videos like this may inspire others to also want to do something similar in there own unique way. You did this in your own unique way, and how is that wrong? I never get why people feel embarrassed that they can do stuff like this. Lots of people are pleased that people can do such things, and it helps to inspire others to also do unique things for themselves if they can afford it. If you can afford it, why not? Its your life, no one else has a right to tell you how to spend your money. I think such videos like this are great, and i like that humans can create there own things like this. Most of us cannot afford anything, but i never begrudge those who can, as you help inspire others to try to do a similar unique thing in there life. Yes, lots may hate you for it, but also remember lots will admire that you did this. So do not feel embarrassed, make your videos knowing that lots will get inspiration from such videos, and you may inspire some people to do there own unique things if they can get to a position where they can. Even though you spend all this money on these things, its your money. No one has a right to tell you that you cannot. I say fair play to you I would never do such a thing, but i admire people who are in a position too, and they do it. I say to you, go for it, and maybe you may inspire others I think what you have is so cool, and good for you that you can do this. I say ignore the haters, and go for it, and remember lots watching your videos will love what you have done. The negative people will always be open about how they feel, but lots will see your video and love what you have done there.

Nice set up but in all fairness that plier drawer is a bit weak considering the flex you’re showing. They are called snap ring pliers. Completely understand

These dudes either spend more time cleaning their tools or just collect them rather than using them.

Think it depends on the person i doubt a truck tech or heavy equipment tech cleans their tools and a honda tech shouldn’t have super dirty tools but put yourself in his shoes working on modified vw products all day or even supercars. I can 100% say I discriminate i dont treat a clunker and a luxury car the same worked on both but luxury car owners care more about looks
