Fantastic review. I bought this kit this month and it's really good. Perfect for battering away without disturbing people. I got the add on pack with throne and headphones and it is very good quality. Next will be the expansion pack with the 4th tom and cymbal. Can't wait!😊

Thanks for the review! On a whim, never played drums before, I wanted to start a new hobby. Never seen the MAX but when I walked in the sales guy said they just got in the new version of the Nitro. Same price. They didn't even have one setup for demo in the store yet. I've had it for two days now and I'm having a blast banging away! Cheers!

I just purchased this a few days ago to play quietly, unlike my acoustic kit. I have to say that so far I am impressed. The kit was fairly easy to put together and using the module seems pretty easy. I still have a lot of playing around with it to do but definitely happy with the purchase!

I got this kit like a week and a half ago and love it. So weird there are so few reviews of it so far. I'm brand new to drums and the BFD stuff hasn't been super intuitive for me but I'll get it. Most of the sounds on the module are great too. Cheers.

I just bought the Alesis Nitro Max Kit , and are they ever low no worries i found a Solution I bought 4 Piece's of 15 inches of Aluminum tubes to fit inside of each leg so that i could raise up a bit higher, it works Perfectly. 👍 here are is the inside tube diameter 1 1/4'' each at 15'' inches. also if you want to extend the Cymbal arms a little longer Aluminum outside diameter 3/4''👍

Lifelong guitarist, never thought I could break into drums (I want to support my own guitar work with Garageband/Logic) but this $399 set got me to pull the trigger and I'm having a blast with this drum set. The MIDI goes out to my Macbook. The bang for your buck ratio is insane. Crazy you can get a full setup like this that feels really playable. I'd recommend. I'm diggin' mine. No regrets.

As someone starting drums for the first time ever in 2024, especially an electronic kit, I feel like I 'cheated' almost by getting decades of tech advancements and lower manufacturing costs all at once. I play in a small apartment building and have no issues at all, even with neighbors. Invest in some good headphones though! Audiotechnica makes good ones like the M50X

Getting this kit for several reasons.I own an acoustic kit that I can barely practice/record with for one.Plus setting up mic's is a royal pain.For the money this will be really easy to record with my DAW.I like how it has a VST included,been kinda wanting to dive into one for a while.Been playing for over 30 yrs,I gotta jam out and practice my rythms yknow?🗽♥️

The module supports dual zone on the drum pads but the pads don't, I tried one of my Roland pads on the 1st tom and it's dual zone. I thought as much, as the cables are all stereo jacks. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

you should check out the Simmons Kits if you havnt already. the Titan 50, 70, and the SD 1250 are amazing kits for their price

Man ... I bought the Nitro Mesh kit on sale for $265, but I wish I would have held out. I HATE the rims on that kit and the 10" snare on this kit would've made all the difference. Plus the aesthetics of this kit are great. Love the white heads and red shells.

that one where the toms sound sort of like roto toms is supposed to be a jazz kit of some kind. The one directly after that in the presets is a jazz brush kit with similar sounding toms.

You’re gonna love it! Make sure you download the BfD player and setup the rack correctly and it’s gonna be so great!

Thanks for the video. Question for you... with your UAD Volt and BFD, could you assign the 4 line outputs to 1: kick, 2: snare, 3:Left, 4:right, and have very low latency such that it could be played live this way? This would give the FOH engineer enough control to put this kit into a live mix, if it can do it

Question: i had the alesis dm10 mk2 pro kit before, it was a nice kit many pros but when i listened to a song and played along with it i noticed it was missing hits like it wasnt fast enough to record every hit. Have you noticed anything like that with this kit ? I would another e kit so i can play at any time and wont scare the dog. Also are you able to use double bass? Thank you for any feed back, love the videos. you do a great job

Awesome video, i have a question, Is there a way to remap the pads? I have an alesis surge se kit and my ride makes the same sound as my crash. It doesnt look like there is anyway to change this in bfd player.

Hi! Does this kit have a choke on the the crash and ride cymbals (not the hi hat). Also, one thing I'm looking for is a kit with a snare that can do the snare head sound, rimshot sound, and side-stick sound all in one drum sound in the module. Thanks! Great video by the way! Any help please? I am a beginner and just bought this Alesis NM set. How do I gain access to the BFD Dark Mahogany drum kit? Do I connect my PC laptop directly to the Alesis module with a usb cable, or do I have to go into another piece of audio equipment from the computer, and then to the module? Thanks. I noticed that Cooper had another piece of electronic equipment next to his laptop (a midi?)

Wow, I am SO wanting this. Question for you and hopefully you will see this - I had the original Alesis Nitro Mesh and I'm 6 ft which is not unusually tall but the rack itself was just too short for me. I actually did a video on how to raise your Alesis rack. But I'm wondering if the rack height for this kit is any taller than the original Nitro Mesh kit was? That would be a deal breaker for me before buying it....

I'm 6'3" and I'm comfortable, but I would say the rack isn't tall. I have a few more inches I could easily raise the drums, but it couldn't get a lot higher than you see in my video.

Just to add a quick question, I've seen a few videos where it looks like the kick tower has a bit of shift to it when playing - anything noticeable for you while you were reviewing it?

My question is, coming from an intermediate (non beginner) with only acoustic experience and no computer or laptop would this be a good choice? I haven't owned a kit in like 7 years and I'm in an apartment. I wonder how bad the learning curve would be. The BDF would be worthless to me as I don't play in a band, record nor have the hardware. But for practice and low volume for an apartment it might work. Ideas? Thoughts?

You can, if both beaters fit nicely within the rubber pad without hitting the rim 👍🏻

I find the snare is much quieter than the toms. I have to hit it quite hard. Doing a roll is almost silent. Is there a way to change the volume of one head over the others?

yeah just click the utility button hit the pad and increase or decrease sensiivity, you can balance cymbals and pads this way, then control the overall volume with the volume knob

When you buy your first electronic drum kit the alesis nitro mesh 4 months ago for $400 and they come out with a fully upgraded version for $400 with bigger drums and toms and an upgraded module 😢😢😢

Sadly the distributors/suppliers didn't tell the stores either. They just said "we have overstock of the Nitro", so they could offer stores a better deal. My store bought heaps, then they surprise announced/released the Nitro Max. The distributor got in contact with my boss & said "How many Max kits do you want?" We normally have a good relationship with the distributor, & the fact they didn't tell us was messed up. My boss was furious & basically told them to F-off, & that we wouldn't be buying the Max until we sell the original Nitro out.

I can’t speak to it long term, but I’ve hit it hard for a few weeks and it’s doing well so far! But I also don’t typically smash electronic drums the way I smash acoustic ones cause there isn’t the same need to get that aggressive sound 🤣

Imo no. I have gone through 3 snare pads. The small gauge wire breaks in the same location repeatedly. I eventually soldered my own replacement wire. The design of the wiring inside is not ideal

Interesting… I will admit I didn’t think to try that because I wanted to see if the standard pedal was worthy of use or if I had to suggest buying a new one. I still have the kit so I should try it!

@@COOP3RDRUMM3R I believe it’s largely because of the amount of surface area the bass drum trigger actually covers… which isn’t a large amount. I saw a guy earlier on here that bought a Yamaha KP65 kick tower because the trigger surface is much larger and can account for two bass beaters.

Had to give up my drums because of divorce now I’m living in a apartment. I just ordered this set but I play slot of RUSH so I hope this wet able to play Tom Sawyer and Neil Peary songs in general
